Enck, Lindsey to be recognized for aftercare support
Beyond The Wire program to celebrate their efforts
Michele Enck and Jessica Lindsey will be recognized for their support of Thoroughbred aftercare March 21 at Laurel Park when the Beyond The Wire Stakes is held in honor of the Maryland-based aftercare program.
Program administrator Jessica Hammond said the awards recognize “two people that go above and beyond out of their love of horses.”

Enck, recently named Stakes Coordinator after serving as The Maryland Jockey Club’s Horse Identifier, and Lindsey, longtime assistant trainer for John Robb, were selected with approval from the Beyond The Wire Board of Directors.
Enck has helped manage paperwork and microchip records for horses in the program since its 2017 launch, supported partner facilities, and alerted officials to welfare concerns when necessary. Lindsey has repeatedly rescued former Robb barn runners, often paying to return them to Maryland and care for them until suitable homes were found, including one injured horse she kept at her own expense for nearly six months.
“We really want to recognize the selfless efforts of Michele and Jessica because both go above and beyond in regard to caring for Maryland’s retiring horses and they have done so for years,” Hammond said. “We need more people like them in the horse racing and breeding industry.”
