RACE 1: CLAIMING $5,000 (CONDITIONED), 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, FILLIES AND MARES, 1 MILE

  1. #5 – Rascallion (9-5): Look for her to make the early lead and never give it up.
  2. #1 – Queen of the Dance (3-1): She’ll sit a nice trip off the leaders on the inside.
  3. #2 – Four the Girls (2-1): Tailed off earlier in the year after a promising start to her career, but some time off may have done her some good.

RACE 2: CLAIMING $5,000 (N/W2L), 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, FILLIES AND MARES, 4 FURLONGS

  1. #3 – Countryclub Couple (8-5): Gets class relief and Arnaldo Bocachica aboard for the first time.
  2. #4 – Bollo de Crema (9-5): The addition of blinkers means she’s bound to be sent for speed in this half-mile dash.
  3. #6 – Instagrand Girl (5-2): Finished second in four of her last five starts against these types at Charles Town, and a similar result is likely here.

RACE 3: STARTER OPTIONAL CLAIMING $8,000, 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, 1 MILE

  1. #3 – Kick Startness (2-1): Scratched out of a softer spot last week to run here; he’s won his last two starts racing on or near the pace.
  2. #6 – Gran Andrews (5-2): He’s a dominant force at Charles Town and has done well here also, with a win and a second in two starts.
  3. #4 – Dolice Vita (5-1): Won twice at this level over the winter, but hasn’t been seen since March; while he might need a race, he cannot be disregarded.

RACE 4: STARTER OPTIONAL CLAIMING $12,500, 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, 6 1/2 FURLONGS

  1. #1– Daufuskie Island (5-2): Won in impressive gate-to-wire style at Colonial Downs last out, returning to the impressive form he showed in New York last year.
  2. #5 – Freeze the Fire (9-2): Takes a much-needed class drop after facing much, much better all year.
  3. #4 – Classic Joke (4-1): He has the ability to go to the front or sit just off the pace.

RACE 5: MAIDEN SPECIAL WEIGHT, 3-6-YEAR-OLDS, 6 1/2 FURLONGS

  1. #3–Mo Missile (3-1): He’s the only first-time starter in the field, but also gets to face a soft bunch at first asking; will watch the board for clues on this Anthony Farrior trainee.
  2. #2– Feels So Right (7-2): Showed speed and faded on debut at Delaware Park; Hammy Smith trainees tend to run better with a race under their belt.
  3. #4 – Dancing Denae (5-2): He’s come in second three times in four career starts; his figures merit respect, but don’t know if I could bet him to win as the favorite with that record.

RACE 6: ALLOWANCE (N/W1X), 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, FILLIES AND MARES, MD-RESTRICTED, 6 1/2 FURLONGS

  1. #4 – Wise Miss (9-5): Ran a game race in defeat at Delaware last out.
  2. #6 – Society Ball (7-2): Always good to earn a check at this level.
  3. #1 – Itsamonstamash (4-1): She’s rounded into career-best form throughout the year, and will be tough with a repeat of any of her recent races.

RACE 7: CLAIMING $5,000 (CONDITIONED), 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, 1 MILE

  1. #8 – Whatahardmanfidead (8-1): Beat similar two starts back, and now makes his first start for the Farrior barn.
  2. #9- Goodluckchuck (9-5): Hasn’t hit the board in five starts this year, but also hasn’t faced a field this soft.
  3. #5 –Baron’s Legacy (4-1): Finished fourth on opening day, now stretches out from 6 ½ furlongs and drops in class.

RACE 8: ALLOWANCE (N/W1X), 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, FILLIES AND MARES, MD-RESTRICTED, 6 1/2 FURLONGS

  1. #6 – Grayson’s Girl (1-1): Finished second in the Miss Disco Stakes last out and broke her maiden easily in April; gets the slight nod in what’s essentially a two-horse race.
  2. #4 – Great Andrei (7-5): Broke badly last out and couldn’t get to her usual spot on the early lead; she’ll run much better today with a clean beginning.
  3. #1 – Sapphire Beauty (20-1): She’s won two of her last three starts, and looks like the best alternative to the formidable top two.

RACE 9: CLAIMING $10,000 (N/W2L), 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, 6 1/2 FURLONGS

  1. #5– Mr. Mendelslew (2-1): Led most of the way on opening day and got caught; now cuts back from a mile to 6 ½ furlongs.
  2. #3 – Andras (8-1): Broke his maiden at Delaware last out with good tactical speed.
  3. #4 – Speedy Alex (6-1): Didn’t do much last out, but his other recent races contend with these.
