Delaware Park picks and analysis: June 18, 2026
- CARRYOVERS: None
- POST TIME: 12:20 P.M.
- NUMBER OF RACES: 9
RACE 1: 7-5-2-3
Perhaps a fool’s errand, though that’s never scared us off before: #7 Tug is speed of the speed in this race and ran a big one last out when grudgingly ceding the lead late in a career-best effort; maybe he’s due? #5 Sharp Wonder has been within a length of winning in three of four and is tactical enough to make a good run at forcing the top choice’s hand… #2 Gualillo switches into the Syneffias barn after facing better in New York…
RACE 2: 7-3-5-1
#7 Santinni drops to the bottom after facing better for a barn that’s off to a good start; has good tactical speed… #3 Real Men Violin is a long way from the colt who was briefly on the Kentucky Derby trail in 2023-2024, and his last couple aren’t good, but he’s not far removed from races that would put him in the mix and drops from better… #5 Guard of Honour has been second in back-to-back starts versus similar, and while the 1-for-34 mark is unsightly, only five of those starts have come on the main track…
RACE 3: 2-6-5-3
#2 Goldinthesky was up close within a half-mile from home before having to back out with traffic troubles and come around, but he then rallied strongly and galloped out in front in his lone career turf try; cleaner trip gets it done… #6 Fly Now’s runner-up finish on debut was perhaps flattered when winner Royal Renegade left the state-bred ranks to run second in his first against winners… #5 Saint Solomon is probably a shot in the dark, but at least the price will be right; a combination of this one’s lack of early speed plus getting the squeeze out of the gate plus a fast early pace left him 15 lengths behind the 10th place horse (!) after a half-mile, but he was by far the fastest of the group from there home…
RACE 4: 5-1-2-3
#5 Guaponess held on to defeat restricted allowance foes last out at Laurel against a decent group, and two back he was narrowly denied against slightly higher-level starter foes; has tactical speed and drawn towards the outside, and note that he finished ahead of the Epic Luck two back, who then bested the second choice in here… #1 Maximus Magic hasn’t run particularly well on synthetic or on wet dirt, but he is 4-for-10 on a fast main track, and two of his last three are quite good… #2 Stone Cold Flex was under a drive for a long way in latest but kept digging before falling just short; in good form now…
RACE 5: 6-4-3-7
Hoping that the last-out seventh-place finish is enough to cool bettors’ ardor on #6 Midnight Onyx, who made a menacing middle move while wide before tiring late; trainer Hardesty is 4-for-10 second off the claim, and this one should get a better trip from mid-pack draw… #4 Whiting Field should control the pace in this contest, and while recent outings aren’t great, he’s not that far removed from efforts that contend against this group… #3 Russian Hammer was willing against similar last time out but stretches to two turns for the first time in two years…
RACE 6: 4-7-8-1
#4 Getaway Palace has run well without winning in two recent tries going short, now stretches out to preferred distance at which she’s won four of five; can use speed to good effect… #7 Stellar Mars makes her third start off the bench after a no-impact outing while wide last out at Laurel; has done best work around two turns and Ness-Paco combo always dangerous… #8 Little Crybaby gets onto turf for just the second time in her career; dam Apple Cider only raced three times, all on turf, while granddam Who Did It and Run was a multiple graded winner on turf…
RACE 7: 5-6-2-1
#5 Good Golly Msfolly looked sharp in dusting off maiden rivals last out in her first off the bench and first on the main track afer three turf outings; this miss is a half to multiple stakes winner Caprice, whose wins all came on dirt… #6 Honor Our Country makes her first start in three months and first after the Ness claim… #2 Everlasting Lover thrashed her rivals to graduate last time out after facing better at Oaklawn, but trainer Compton’s charges usually need a try against winners before returning to the winner’s circle…
RACE 8: 10-8-6-1
#10 Queen Wilhelmina figures tough if drawing in; middle move to the front with most of the race still to go in latest but couldn’t quite get it done… #8 Eachpeachpearplum looks like the speed in this contest, and trainer Pecoraro is 5-for-15 second off similar layoffs… #6 Savanasrioguerrera has run two pretty good races on turf and should be coming at the end…
RACE 9: 2-7-3-5
#2 He’s Side Eyed ran better than you think last out, put in against much tougher and stumbling out of the gate, he nevertheless ran on for fourth and nearly third and galloped out nicely; major class relief on offer here… #7 Sharon’s Prince did not run particularly well last out against better but finds a more appropriate level here… #3 Paralegal could be speed of the speed…
