LAUREL PARK JOCKEYS
Yedsit Hazlewood won six times — he had three-win days Friday and Saturday — last weekend to lead all Laurel riders… Jose Vargas and Raul Mena each won three times, while Mychel Sanchez, Sheldon Russell, and Angel Cruz won two apiece… Overall, 14 riders won at least one race last weekend… Hazlewood holds a one-win edge over Vargas for the meet lead, 8-7, and they also are the top two for the year to date, with Hazlewood having won 59 races to Vargas’ 28… Angel Cruz has 26 wins… Vargas leads all local riders with 10.31 added wins for the full year to date, followed by Cruz (4.18) and Brittany Scampton (1.81)… Added wins compares a rider’s actual wins to the number of wins the odds would have predicted, with a positive total meaning the rider had won more races than the odds of his or her mounts suggest… The range of all riders is 10.31 to (-5.05)… Among regular Laurel riders, Sheldon Russell, Hazlewood, and Vargas are the only riders above 20% of purse earned; Russell is at 25.13%, with Hazlewood at 23.98% and Vargas at 20.41%…
