ANALYSIS

Flashy debut for #1 Canvas Art (9-2), who won pretty easily at first asking. The Klimt filly hasn’t raced since March 9, but the works say she’s ready, and while we don’t love the inside post in this 4 1/2-furlong test, we note that she won from there last time… #7 My Sister Clurrie (6-1) won her only local try and gets the helpful outside draw once again… She’s kept better company, but #3 My Boss (5-2) has had only limited success doing so. Her best efforts put her right there, but we’d like to see a start over the strip or at least under the lights before taking odds as short as these… #2 Aadhana (2-1) impressed when graduating four back but has kinda been going the wrong way since. She’ll need to bounce back…

Race 8

3-1-4-12

Top choice #3 West Virginia Boy (7-2) had a pretty useful debut. The WV-bred, racing at Laurel, dueled with winner Inside Stunt for a long way before throwing in the towel late, and that runner came right back to defeat starter foes. Improvement expected for this one’s second start… #1 Orangeburg (3-1) was no match for 3-5 winner Road Slew in last, which was his first around two turns, but was well clear of the others. Improved early speed would aid the cause… #4 Red Hot Toddy (5-2) has been second or third six straight since being stretched out to two turns. That pays the feed bills but doesn’t make him an enticing option on top… Doubtful he’ll draw in — he needs two scratches — but #12 Thunder Kitten (9-5) probably needs to be on the ticket if he does. The Javier Contreras has some good efforts in one-turn races and will try two turns for the first time in his seasonal bow..
