RACE NUMBER | CONTENDERS | COMMENTS |
Race 6 | 2-1-5-7 | #2 Ira the Icon (3-1): Sire won the Pennsylvania Derby, and his works say he is ready. Trainer Butch Reid has a 32% strike rate with first time two-year-olds. He needs an alert start from the inside. #1 Keithsendshellooo (5-1): His two starts were really good, and he was third last out with same. He’ll need to get away cleanly from the inside post. #5 Vamonos (5-1): Last out was at Belmont Park, and he was overmatched. Can be a player with these. #7 Runaholic (5-2): Son of Runhappy, who gets juvenile winners. His works also say he is ready in a very competitive field. |
Race 9 | 3-6-1-5 | #3 Vulcan (7-2): Claimed last out for $40,000 and has the speed to take it gate to wire. Just missed last out. #6 The Sicarii (5-1): Ships in from Penn National and faced allowance foes there. Ran a strong race and makes second start off the bench. Improvement is expected. #1 Still Having Fun (5-2): Ships in from Delaware and also makes second start off the bench. Has plenty of back class, including G2 win and earnings of over $600,000, now in Jamie Ness barn. #5 Breezy Gust (9-2): Was claimed for cheaper last out but has the speed to get involved early. If he shakes loose, can earn a major piece. |
