Fasig-Tipton 2yo sale: By the numbers
The Fasig-Tipton Midlantic two-year-olds in training sale that kicks off May 23 at 11:00 a.m. at the Timonium Fairgrounds figures to test both the endurance of sale-goers — 636 hips are catalogued — and the wallets of buyers.
Last year’s event generated gross sales of more than $33 million, and with even more horses on offer in this two-day event, well, a lot of money could be changing hands.
Sure, you’re saying, but how many gray horses are there? Funny you should ask…

- Notable: First look for the Mid-Atlantic at Good Magic’s two-year-olds. They are the eldest offspring of the champion juvenile of 2017… Speaking of 2017, that year’s Preakness winner, Cloud Computing, has 12 on offer. As a runner, Cloud Computing was from the same connections and had a virtually identical career path thus far to this year’s Preakness winner, Early Voting… Army Mule, who has 13 on offer, is a son of Maryland sire Friesan Fire, who stands at Country Life Farm. An $825,000 two-year-old, Army Mule made only three career starts, one at three and two at four. But he won all three, including the G1 Carter… Sharp Azteca is another new sire whose eldest are two-year-olds. He could have a nice page enhancement later Monday, when Sharpened makes her career debut at Parx. Sharp Azteca has had three starters to date…
