RACE NUMBER | CONTENDERS | COMMENTS |
Race 6 | 4-7-2-6 | Our best betting advice here is to use #4 Golden Candy (9-5) on top and spread out underneath or, in multi-race wagers, if you’re in search of a single, he’s the place to look. The Anthony Pecoraro trainee’s accomplishments tower over those of his rivals in this PA-bred allowance. While for the most part these are horses looking for a first allowance win, Golden Candy has four allowance wins versus open company on the page and also owns, not on the page, a Delaware-certified stakes win. Sure, he got beat last out versus similar at 3-10. We’re inclined to think it won’t happen twice… The only other runner here to have won even one allowance race is #7 Classy American (4-1), who did so two back and then was second at this level versus a next-out winner… |
Race 8 | 3-1-2-7 | This is a terrific group of horses in this open allowance contest, and while last-out G3 Greenwood Cup winner #1 Magic Michael (2-1) is the morning line choice, we’ll try to beat him with last-out Balezzi winner #3 Rock On Luke (9-2). The Regina Brennan trainee had no answers in this Parx Dirt Mile two back when facing the likes of Mind Control and Silver State — two graded quality runners — but against an easier group last time, he galloped by five in front-running fashion. He looks to be the speed in this contest, as well, and if he can keep the early fractions manageable, he’ll be tough to reel in late… Magic Michael closed nicely to win the 12-furlong Greenwood Cup and has also run some good races at this and similar distances. Rider Frankie Pennington may want to have him a bit closer to the early action than he’s been in his last couple, though… #2 Why Why Paul Why (3-1) has won three straight with ease and ought to be close up early… #7 Bird King (6-1) usually runs his race… |
