RACE NUMBERCONTENDERSCOMMENTS
Race 83-6-5-7Top choice #3 One Nation (7-2) galloped last out in his first try in the Jamie Ness barn, followed that up with a zippy work August 31, and picks up leading rider Silvera. Sure looks like all systems are go… Jockey Kendrick Carmouche’s return to action is off to a good start, with three wins from six starts, and he’ll ride #6 Almashriq (5-2) in this spot. This one, once a million-dollar yearling, has kept generally better company than these but has been claimed out of his last two races and is working on a seven-racing losing streak… Looks like #5 Grandfire (6-1) is the one they’ll have to catch. He’ll make his first start in the Howard Brown barn and arrives off a win but generally has struggled to carry his speed the full distance against lesser… #7 Why Why Paul Why (3-1) was a good second last out and a mile ahead of the rest; the winner returned to win next…
Race 93-5-10-2We’ll use #3 Elusive Ryder (5-2) in this claimer on the grass. The Velazquez trainee has won the last three times she’s faced similar on either turf or dirt and has credible efforts against better. Velazquez has a 26% strike rate second off the claim… #5 Alleria (4-1) arrives here with a two-race win streak against lesser for trainer Carl Doran… The speedster #10 Lady Magica (2-1) is favored here off four straight good tries versus similar. She’ll be in front early, but the question is how she’ll fare late: she’s been running 5 and 5 1/2 furlongs and will need to carry her speed 7 1/2 furlongs here. We’re inclined to think the distance may be a hurdle…. #2 Sidereal (20-1) has had her moments on the turf, and while recent efforts are unsightly, on best she fits…
