The work tab looks solid… #3 Northern Express (7-2) has turned in a pair of credible efforts to date and finished ahead of our top choice last time. He’s shown the speed to lead and the ability to stalk and could be sitting on a win here… #1 Dixie Cannonball (4-1) makes his debut today. The son of Paynter is a half to five winners (from five to start) and attracts the services of leading rider Silvera… |
| Race 7 | 4-1-10-2 | The super-well-bred #4 Contented Now (7-2) gets the nod in here. The Medaglia d’Oro colt makes his debut here after a couple of turf works and is a sib to two turf winners. Note that rider Toledo comes in for just the one mount… Blinkers on made a big difference last out for #1 Kodapendent (5-2), who jumped up to run second last out behind his stablemate. He’ll try the lawn here for the first time and is a sibling to six turf winners… First-time starter #10 Shpilkes (5-1) is bred to like the lawn and comes from a barn that can get ’em ready to win first out; trainer Preciado wins at a 26% clip with first-timers… We’ll give a puncher’s chance to #2 Tall Ship (15-1). The Elizabeth Merryman trainee showed little on debut; he was fractious before the race, broke slowly, and was never really involved. They were trying to get him on the grass that day, but the race came off it. His only winning sib scored on turf, and this one gets Lasix on today for his second start… |
