How’d we do last time at Parx?

RACE NUMBERCONTENDERSCOMMENTS
Race 45-9-6-4Top choice #5 Dewzpots (9-2) just missed against similar on debut and then was a decent third a half-step up. With just two races under her belt, there’s plenty of reason to think she can still move forward, and she’s tactical enough to work out a good trip just a bit off the speed. In race in which most of the other likely contenders have been stuck at the maiden level for a while, that’s good enough for us… #9 Tilsa (3-1) didn’t miss by much in her only try this low on dirt and may benefit from a cutback in distance… Morning line favorite #6 Our Dixie Blue (2-1) keeps dropping, getting bet heavily, and losing: she’s been 5-2 or lower in six of eight career starts and even-money or lower in her last three. By all means use her in the exotics, but you won’t find any value on top… First-time starter #4 Borderline Genius (4-1) was a $200,000 2-year-old who’s debuting, at four, at the $20,000 level. That’s a major loss, which tells you the connections’ impression of what they’ve seen in the mornings…
Race 94-2-6-9One thing we know about #4 Manolete (7-2): the seven-year-old loves to win. He’s won 15 of his 47 career starts, including three straight at this starter level, and has shown the ability to be up close to the pace or to come from off it. Can he make it four straight? There’s no reason why not… Two for the price of one with the #2 entry, and the one that interests us is #2X Diamond Setter (8-1). This one’s been competitive with similar, and while that last doesn’t look great, he was involved in the early pace before tiring. Cutting back to seven furlongs should let him find his preferred trip running into the pace, and his better efforts put him in the mix here… #6 Souper Fly Over (2-1) has proven he competes here, and even the two-back effort wasn’t terrible in the Claiming Crown… #9 Factor This In (3-1) has finished behind Manolete his last two and gives evidence of going off form, but on best he’s a contender…
