Preakness Profiles: War of Will

War of Will

#1 War of Will (4-1)

Why he COULD win the Preakness: Drew the dreaded Post #1 in the KY Derby but broke from the #2 slot in the starting gate thanks to two scratches. Unfortunately, his good luck ended there as he got the worst the incident when Maximum Security veered across a few paths. Some say it’s a miracle that this War Front colt didn’t go down and cause an epic Derby disaster. For this reason the racing gods should shine down upon both rider and horse, providing a clean trip here to capture the second jewel of the Triple Crown.

Why he SHOULD NOT be able to win the Preakness: Will he be able to recover both mentally and physically from the incident in the Derby? Supposedly escaped it with just a few scrapes and his trainer just happy that he has a graded stakes winner healthy enough to fight another fight, doesn’t exude confidence. Has the look of a tired horse in the mornings since arriving at Pimlico on Monday. Will need to use a lot of energy early and often as others will vie for the lead.
