Regaled dazzles for DelCap double
Becomes eighth horse to win two DelCaps
The field was different, but the conditions were just about identical and so was the outcome.
Delaware-loving, slop-loving Regaled rocketed past her rivals in the lane to win Saturday’s 89th renewal of the Grade 3, $600,000 Delaware Handicap, her second consecutive triumph in the filly and mare classic.
With the win, she becomes just the eighth horse to double up in Delaware’s biggest race, joining such storied names as Elate, Royal Delta, Susan’s Girl, and Endine.

“That’s what we hear, that some pretty nice horses have done it, and so we’re excited,” said Alan Ribble. He and wife Kerry’s Ribble Farm co-owns Regaled with Hoolie Racing Stable and Kamp Racing Stables LLC after purchasing the now-five-year-old Mohaymen mare for $300,000 at Inglis Digital’s May 2025 sale.
She took them to last year’s Breeders’ Cup, and if all goes according to plan, she’ll do so again in four weeks.
In today’s contest, Low Country Magic set fractions of 22.78 seconds and 47.00 before favorite Nerazurri took over on the far turn.
After three quarters in 1:11.55, Nerazurri had taken the lead, while Regaled still toiled in seventh, seven lengths in arrears.

“When we broke from the gate, I knew I had the horse and it was just a matter of getting the trip,” said winning rider Joseph Ramos. “It was just about how quick they would go the first half. I kept her in clear, but I also did not want to lose ground. I had to be patient and trust my filly. She was awesome today.”
Regaled and Ramos swept from near the back of the field to win by three lengths. The Whit Beckman trainee rallied widest on the far turn, surged past her rivals in the stretch and drew away under mild late urging, completing 1 1/8 miles in 1:50.48 over the muddy track.
Chasten challenged between horses in the stretch but could not match Regaled’s finishing kick, settling for second, 1 1/4 lengths ahead of Nerazurri. Miss Authentic finished fourth, while local hopeful Social Fortress stalked the pace before tiring to sixth.
Regaled paid $9.40 to win and topped an exacta that returned $17.70 for a one-dollar wager. Regaled now has five wins and more than $1.2 million in earnings.
Two of those wins have come since last May’s purchase. Both came in the Delaware Handicap, and both came over a muddy racing strip. Last year’s DelCap triumph preceded a trip to the Breeders’ Cup Distaff, in which Regaled rallied from far back to finish third behind Scylla.
“If we had anything to say about it, we would [move the Breeders’ Cup to Delaware],” Alan Ribble joked. “We’re planning on [returning to] the Breeders’ Cup.”
This year Regaled had run four times prior to today’s contest. In a pair of Grade 2 races, she had run near-miss seconds, while she’d been well beaten in a pair of Grade 1 events.
“She’s always run hard, but she’s been up against some really good competition, and so we just knew she was still running well,” said Alan Ribble. “She needed a little break, and we gave her a little break.”
After a second-place finish in the Grade 2 Fleur de Lis at Churchill Downs June 27, Regaled had been idle prior to today. But she’d posted five timed works at Beckman’s Churchill Downs base since and clearly was ready to roll.
Regaled began her career in Samuel Davis’ Laurel Park barn, winning three times and placing in three stakes. Among those was a third-place finish – at odds of 71-1 – in the 2024 Grade 3 Delaware Oaks.
“Our bloodstock agents, Legion Bloodstock, had looked at her and said she could really move up,” Ribble explained of the purchase. “[They said] let’s get her, give her some time off, and then see what we have. And so we’ve been very pleased with her since then.”
The Ribbles are based in Arkansas and were happy to have Regaled run two races in late winter and early spring at their home track. But they seemed even happier to have her end her day in the winner’s circle at Delaware Park.
“That was kind of fun to have her [at Oaklawn Park],” Kerry Ribble said. “But we think she loves this track the best.”
DELCAP NOTES Eunomia, last out winner of the Grade 1 Clement L. Hirsch at Del Mar, was on the grounds but scratched mid-afternoon… Angel Bella and Take Charge Omaha also scratched… Early leader Low Country Magic faded to last… The 1:50.48 time of the DelCap was slightly faster than Barbadian Runner managed it (1:50.85) in the Battery Park… Nerazurri went off as the lukewarm 2.10-1 favorite in the eight-horse DelCap… Delaware contested four two-turn stakes on the day, and all were won by a horse that was fourth or worse after a half-mile…
