From a Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races release

Aided by the success of the recently concluded month’s Charles Town Classic program, Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races in April established a record for per-race wagering in a month. The $162,021 wagered per race this past month outpaced the prior record of $153,083 per race set in April 2015 by nearly 7 percent.

The Charles Town Classic card on April 22 turned out the fourth largest single card handle in its history, while between March 11 and April 15, Charles Town produced the third longest streak in track history of all-sources handles topping $1 Million as the track strung together 20 consecutive programs hitting the seven-figure mark. The 20 straight programs with wagering topping $1 Million fell just three cards short of the high mark of 23 consecutive cards reaching the milestone in February and March of 2012.

“Our entire team here at Charles Town should be incredibly proud of what they’ve accomplished and the job they’ve done in moving our business forward the last several years,” said Charles Town’s Vice President of Racing Operations Erich Zimny. “It also goes without saying that we are very thankful for our horseplayers and industry partners that have contributed to those successes.”

Charles Town has set annual records for handle per race in both 2015 and 2016.

Charles Town’s first day of live racing in May will be this Wednesday evening, May 3, with the first race slated to go postward at 7:00 P.M. EST.
