The second annual Maryland Million 5K road race will take place on Saturday, Oct. 15, exactly one week before the 31st running of the Jim McKay Maryland Million Day program at Laurel Park.

The 3.1-mile event kicks off at 8:30 a.m., followed by a one-mile fun run at 8:45. Registration fees and funds raised by participants will go to benefit race organizer Special Olympics Maryland (SOMD).

Participants will begin by running through Laurel Park’s starting gate and continue in a loop around Laurel Race Track Road before finishing down the homestretch of the main track in front of the grandstand.

Post-race refreshments will be served and an awards ceremony held in the winner’s circle at 9:45 a.m.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. near the Billy Barton statue in front of the grandstand. The cost is $30 for pre-registrants and $35 on race day. Participants who raise a minimum of $30 are not required to pay a registration fee.

Fundraisers and pre-registrants will receive a Maryland Million 5K T-shirt and complimentary general admission pass for Maryland Million Day, Saturday Oct. 22. Race day registrants will also receive complimentary general admission and a T-shirt while supplies last.
