The 20-cent Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot for Friday swelled to $171,177.73 when the popular multi-race wager went unsolved during Thursday’s nine-race program at historic Pimlico Race Course.
First race post time is 1:10 p.m. for Friday’s nine-race card that kicks off with a $40,000 maiden special weight event for 2-year-old fillies going 4 ½ furlongs on the main track. The Rainbow 6 will span Races 4-9.
Big Lick Farm’s Neto was the only horse live to take down the jackpot heading into Thursday’s finale, but finished off the board. A total of $24,900 was wagered into the Rainbow 6 pool, and tickets with five of six winners paid $440.70.
The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day’s pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
Also on Friday, there will also be a 50-cent Late Pick 5 carryover of 4,060.04 covering Races 5-9, and a $1 Super Hi-5 carryover of $4,639.60 for the opener.
Note: Jockey Fergal Lynch posted a riding triple Thursday, sweeping the early double with Billy the Bull ($4.20) in the first race and Quartet ($3.40) in the second and winning the fourth with Fitzfarris ($3.20). Billy the Bull and Fitzfarris are both trained by Kieron Magee.
