From a Thoroughbred Charities of America release

The Delaware Horsemen’s Assistance Fund will honor Thoroughbred Charities of America (TCA) at the 13th annual Horsemen’s Classic fundraiser to be held on September 11 in Wilmington, Del.

“We are very pleased to be honoring this outstanding organization, especially on their 25th anniversary. The grants they provide have affected many lives, both Thoroughbred and industry workers,” said Lynda Furlong programs manager of the DHAF.

The Horsemen’s Classic offers a day of golf, cocktails and dinner as well as a silent and live auction at the White Clay Creek Country Club at Delaware Park. For more information, visit their website or call (302) 994-2521 x7289. All proceeds benefit DHAF.

“TCA has deep roots in Delaware as our founders, Herb and Ellen Moelis, own and operate Candyland Farm in Middletown which was the venue for many of our Stallion Season Auctions,” said Erin Crady executive director of TCA. “Our Delaware connection makes this award even more special and we are honored to have been selected. The DHAF is critically important to the backstretch community at Delaware Park and we are pleased that our grants have made an impact. We appreciate their great work in support of TCA’s two-fold mission of helping not only Thoroughbreds but also those who care for them.”

The Delaware Horsemen’s Assistance Fund is a benevolence fund designed to improve the quality of life and care for all Delaware Park backstretch workers. DHAF coordinates with community partners to provide dental care, counseling, eye care, hardship assistance, chaplain services and more. More information is available at dtha.com.

Thoroughbred Charities of America (TCA) was formed in 1990 to raise and distribute funds for charities that provide a better life for Thoroughbreds both during and after their racing careers by supporting repurposing and retirement organizations and by helping the people who care for them. Over the last 25 years TCA has distributed over $21 million in grants to more than 200 Thoroughbred-related organizations. TCA is the charitable arm of the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA). For additional information about TCA visit tca.org.
