From a Maryland Jockey Club release

Jockey Amelia Green won her first race in Maryland when piloting the longshot D K’s Brigantia to victory in Laurel’s fifth race Saturday, a maiden claiming event for 3-year-old fillies.

Trained by Tim Keefe, D K’s Brigantia returned $69.60. The victory was Green’s fourth in 38 races.

Green, a native of England, has a background in show horses. She worked for trainer Henry Cecil in England before arriving in the U.S. and winning her first race at Hollywood Park in December of 2013. After riding at Hollywood she returned to England, “sorted my visa out and I moved here last April.”

“It’s a good feeling,” said Green of the win. “I’ve been working hard in the mornings so it’s nice for it to finally pay off. I want to race. This is really what I want to do. And I like it here so far, but I’m not sure about the winter just yet. So if I keep winning races, I’m sure it will persuade me to stay. For now, I’m staying here.”
