In the latest edition of our weekly feature with Maryland racing analyst Gabby Gaudet, she plays a Pick 4 and digs into an allowance race.
RACE 8 — ALLOWANCE N4X/OPTIONAL CLAIMING $40,000
The skinny: 4yo and up going six furlongs
Notably: It’s a reunion race: three runners from last month’s Grade 3 General George at Laurel (and four from January’s Fire Plug) reconvene in this rugged allowance field. Cutty Shark — second in the General George — is the favorite. But is his one-for-eight record at the distance a cause for concern?
Gabby’s take: Speed kills — and Smash and Grab is the horse with the most speed.
In the video below, Gabby is joined by Dan Tordjman of America’s Best Racing as they discuss the race, interspersed with clips of some key contenders.[su_youtube url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GxjQooxxqcQ” autoplay=”yes”]
