From a Monmouth Park release

Edwin T. Broome’s Posse Dreamin sat just off the speed of Light’s Gone Wild before grabbing the lead around the turn and reporting home an impressive two length winner in the $60,000 Jersey Juvenile Stakes at Monmouth Park on Saturday.

Trained by the owner, Posse Dreamin covered the six furlongs over a fast main track in 1:11 1/5 and paid $6.40, $3.60 and $3.40 as the favorite in the field of 10 New Jersey-bred horses.  Little Hitman rallied to complete the $37.60 exacta and returned $4.60 and $3.40.  It was another five lengths back to Skirt Stake, who paid $6.80 to show.

“He broke on top and I just let him relax and put me where he wanted to be,” said winning jockey Pedro Cotto Jr.  “I was very confident the whole way.  When we moved around the turn I called on him and he had plenty.  He’s a very nice horse – was very professional today.”

A 2-year-old colt by Posse from the West Acre mare Don’t Stop Dreamin, Posse Dreamin sports a record of 2-2-0 from five career starts, good for earnings of $92,800.

Live racing continues at Monmouth Park on Sunday, Sept. 28 – closing day of the 2014 meet.  Gates open 11:30 a.m.; first post 12:45 p.m.
