Victor Carrasco rode four winners Saturday afternoon at Pimlico Race Course and moved to within seven of Trevor McCarthy for the top spot in the standings with three live racing days remaining in the spring meeting.

The 2013 Eclipse Award winning apprentice scored aboard Inspired by Grace ($4.40-race 5), Graeme’s Song ($10.60-race 6), Sortano ($14.20-race 7) and Dulcedumbre ($7-race 10). The 21-year-old now has ridden 33 winners during the meet, seven behind McCarthy.

“What an awesome day,” Carrasco said. “I am still working hard and trying to improve every day. I am thankful the trainers still have trust in me and give me good horses to ride. I really appreciate it.”

McCarthy, who rode at Monmouth Park Saturday, has mounts in all nine races at Pimlico Sunday, while Carrasco is named on seven runners.

“I don’t pay too much attention to the standings,” added Carrasco. “If I start thinking about it, I might start doing the wrong things. I just want win races.”

The 35-day stand ends on Belmont day, Saturday, June 7. There is also live racing Friday afternoon.
