Data from the Equine Injury Database shows a slight rise in the equine fatal injury rate, which remains well below what it was when the project began.
For the fourth straight year, the equine fatality rate declined in 2016 and now is 23 percent below 2009 levels, the Jockey Club said.
The Jockey Club’s Equine Injury Database showed a 14 percent drop in the frequency of fatal injury in 2015 versus the prior year.
