Preakness set for May 17, anchors 16-stake weekend

The 150th running of the Grade 1 Preakness will take place May 17 at Pimlico Race Course and will anchor a weekend filled with 16 stakes.

Nominations are out for a quartet of Laurel Park stakes to be run Feb. 15, topped by the General George and Barbara Fritchie, both at seven furlongs.

Fair Hill Training Center, the 350-acre training facility in northeastern Maryland, has hired veteran horseman Robert Croteau as general manager.

A longshot pressed the favorite into submission, and the biggest beneficiary was Change My World, who rallied to win Laurel Park’s Sunday feature.

Mr. Antonelli continued to make short work of his conditions with his third win in four starts in Laurel Park’s Friday feature.
