Concert Tour looked to be one of trainer Bob Baffert’s “A” horses when rattling off three straight wins, two in graded company, to kick off his career. But the son of Street Sense disappointed when third as the 3-10 favorite in the Arkansas Derby.
Baffert is a seven-time Preakness winner, while jockey Mike Smith has won twice, including aboard Justify in 2018, from 18 Preakness starts.

His owners, Gary and Mary West’s KY Derby dream turned into a nightmare in 2019 when their Maximum Security suffered the first disqualification for an in-race foul of the winner in the history of the race. Maybe his defection was a potential silent protest or a wise move to give their three-year-old son of Street Sense extra rest after suffering his first career loss, as the prohibitive favorite when hooked up in a speed-duel with Caddo River in the Arkansas Derby. His new jock is known as “Money Mike” because of how he rises to the occasion on the big stage, most recently winning the Triple Crown aboard Justify two years ago in front-running fashion. The biggest question of the Preakness… will Concert Tour engage his Derby winning stablemate in the early stages and potentially compromise both of their chances?
