The first condition books for Monmouth Park and Delaware Park are now available online. Both tracks open in May.
Monmouth’s book covers the period from opening day, May 2, which is also Kentucky Derby day, through June 14. The first stake of the meet takes place opening day; that’s the $100,000 Cliff Hanger for three-year-olds and up going a mile on the turf.
Monmouth’s 2020 purses are on the upper end of Midlantic offerings. Maiden special weight races offer a purse of $47,500, as do first-level allowance races. That’s irrespective of any New Jersey-bred enhancements available. Monmouth Park’s first condition book is available in PDF form here.
Delaware also is offering enhanced purses in 2020. Maiden special weight contests carry a purse of $40,000, while first-level allowances will go for $42,000 on the dirt. Those figures are up from $34,000 and $36,000, respectively, a year ago and do not include Delaware certified enhancements.
Delaware’s first condition book covers the period from its May 27 opening through Monday, July 6. The track opens on a Wednesday and offers its first stake, the $50,000 Light Hearted for three-year-old fillies, on the following Wednesday, June 3.
