Fasig-Tipton: How the Midlantic-breds fared
Accounted for more than 70% of gross sales
Horses foaled in Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia and West Virginia generated approximately $4.27 million at the revamped 2026 Fasig-Tipton Eastern Fall Yearling Sale Oct. 27, virtually unchanged from $4.26 million in 2025.
The event itself saw gross sales grow by nearly 18 percent, from just shy of $5 million last year to more than $5.8 million this year. The average was essentially flat as a larger catalog – 188 horses sold this year versus 161 last year – drove the increase.

The five Mid-Atlantic states accounted for 137 horses sold, up from 128 last year. Their combined average declined 6.4%, from $33,271 to approximately $31,150.
Notable numbers among the mid-Atlantic:
Maryland-breds led all states in total hips solid with 78, down from 89 a year ago, and gross at almost $2.7 million. The average was essentially flat for Maryland-breds, and the median was up five percent to $21,000.
The other four Midlantic states all saw a larger number of hips sold this year than last, with notable increases from Pennsylvania (from 24 to 33, an increase of 37.5%) and Virginia (from 10 to 15, 50%).
Here are the toppers from each state:
The top two sellers were both Maryland-breds, led by Hip 98, a Cody’s Wish filly out of the Not for Love mare How My Heart Works. How My Heart Works is the dam of the graded stakes-placed stakes winner Monday Morning Qb, and this is a terrific female family dotted with stakes winners and graded winners, including multiple Grade 1 winners Cyberknife and Well Armed, an earner of more than $5 million. Dance Forth Farm and Clancy Bloodstock paid $300,000 to obtain the filly, who was consigned by Becky Davis as agent.
The top Pennsylvania-bred, Hip 213, brought a winning bid of $130,000 from Hillwood Stable LLC and was consigned by Vinery Sales as agent. She is a Tiz the Law filly out of the winning Pioneerof the Nile mare Pharoah’s Princess and is a half-sister to the Grade 2 winner Kappa Kappa.
The top-selling West Virginia-bred, Hip 238, went for $80,000 to Jeff Runco as agent for David Raim and was consigned by Bill Reightler as agent. He is a colt by Loggins out of the multiple graded stakes winner Honey Chile, by Invisible Ink. The colt is a half-brother to two-time Charles Town juvenile stakes winner Crystal Veil.
The leading Virginia-bred hails from the superb Larry Johnson-developed family that includes most recently the multiple Grade 1 winner Mindframe. The colt, Hip 268, is by Independence Hall and out of the Malibu Moon mare Clockstrucktwelve. He is a half-brother to three stakes-placed runners. Justin Wayson and Steven Smith paid $77,000, and the colt was consigned by Becky Davis as agent.
The leading New Jersey-bred was Hip 131, an Enticed filly that is the first foal out of the Ghostzapper mare Reactive. She brought a top bid of $24,000 from Joseph Ioia and was consigned by Gracie Bloodstock as agent.
