Delaware Park picks and analysis: September 11, 2026
- CARRYOVERS: None
- POST TIME: 12:20 P.M.
- NUMBER OF RACES: 8
RACE 1: 7-8-6-2
#7 Lost My Shoe flashed talent before going to the bench and maybe was in a bit tough in the Laurel allowance when finishing behind three next out winners, including win machine Paco the Taco Man; blinkers on… #8 Richeztoo looks like the one they’ll need to catch…
RACE 2: Tax Free Shopping Distaff
#5 Pure Lure has won back-to-back starts for the Michael Moore barn, having a productive Delaware meet… #4 Dwelling Legacy is the one to beat, but the bland outing in latest and time away have to make you at least a little cautious about taking 3-2… #3 Irish Jig was in too deep in the CT Oaks (G3) but won the Miss Disco prior to that… #2 Onyx Ten has been beaten at 1-5 and 2-5 in her last three starts but is obviously capable on best…
RACE 3: Small Wonder
Sold for $460,000 after her dominant graduation score, #6 Cha Cha Baby then was entered in the G1 Spinaway by the new connex but scratched; trainer Butch Reid is plenty capable, and this one could be quickest away… #1 Whitten Way bested our top choice on debut and then was up just in time last out in the Blue Hen over a wet surface she may not have liked… #2 Martiniwithatwist has improved with each start, and Yedsit Hazlewood riding her won’t hurt… #5 Olivia’s Legacy just missed in the Blue Hen after moving basically in tandem with the winner…
RACE 4: 9-5-3-10
It was a lot to ask #9 Jarndyce to ship up to Saratoga and debut going nine furlongs; she ran credibly enough for the first six or seven before tiring in a race that’s produced two next-out winners; gets leading rider in the irons today… #5 Mischievous Twins ran pretty well in both turf tries against special weight foes at Colonial… #3 Spresso Mar ran willingly in two earlier tries sprinting on turf; added ground could be a plus…
RACE 5: First State Dash
6-9-1-10
#6 Walt’s Notion moved easily to the lead in his debut before holding rivals safe, including #9 Strong Suspicion, who was a clear second best after giving willing chase… Though still a maiden, #1 Midnight Ride was second last out in the Hickory Tree, which has produced a next out winner…
RACE 6: 4-5-6-7
The pace might be lively in this starter event, so perhaps #4 Newyearsblockparty could sit off and pounce; has run two very good races in his last three and had excuses for his poor outing two back… #5 Guapo Again figures to be involved in the early running…
RACE 7: Lewes Handicap
6-2-5-7
#6 Picture This ran well enough in the Sussex last out but couldn’t get to the top runners after moderate early fractions; should benefit arguably more than any of these with the added ground… #2 Understudy Kitty ran by ’em all to win the Sussex and ran decently last out in a Virginia-restricted race behind Gramp’s Legacy, who loves him some Colonial Downs… #5 Magical Mondays will shed the blinkers as he stretches back out after a poor outing in latest while sprinting…
RACE 8: Ogletown Handicap
7-2-3-1
There are some nice horses in this event, but #7 Intrepids Fantasy might be a different kind altogether; she’s 3-for-3 by a combined total of more than 23 lengths, and last out she was under an absolute stranglehold before moving readily by the early leader; if she really is as good as she’s hinted, she wins here… #2 Pink Ruby arrives in good form with three wins in her last four… In races in which she has been treated with Lasix, #1 Beautiful Blome is 4-for-6 with a second and third; she’ll get it today…
RACE 9: New Castle Handicap
2-6-3-5
#2 Chipotle hasn’t always been the model of consistency, but when he’s good, he’s very good, as he was two back when second by a half-length to Point Dume, who then turned around to win the General George and G2 Carter in succession; makes first start since March, so that’s a question mark, but the talent is there at an attractive price… #6 Quint’s Brew, on the other hand, is pretty much the model of consistency, and the outside draw is a plus with a runner with plenty of early lick but who’s versatile enough to sit off it; last out runner-up finish to sprint champion Book’em Danno was very, very good…
RACE 10: 7-1-4-2
#7 Lady Zeta falls into a good spot in a race where her tactical speed might be her best weapon… #1 Tempting Lady ran big last out, but does she get the pace she wants here? And how about the voided claim in latest? #4 Three Times has run well enough in limited main track tries…
