Fritchie winner Passage East favored

Making her fourth start for Riley Mott, Her Laugh aims to add a second stakes title to her resume in the $100,000 Fasig-Tipton Sandy Bottom, split into two divisions that will be run as Races 6 and 7. Her Laugh is 9-2 on the morning line in the first of those divisions.

The lightly raced 4-year-old Practical Joke filly, who ran fifth in the 2025 Kentucky Oaks, exits a fourth-place finish in the Grade 2 Inside Information Stakes at Gulfstream Park and a fifth in the Grade 1 La Brea Stakes at Santa Anita.

“We’ve kind of thrown her to the wolves a couple times,” Mott said. “They were tough spots, but I don’t think she had necessarily the clearest of trips. Her works coming out of her races have been very sharp. I think the stretch out to one mile from seven eighths is going be to her advantage.
So I’m optimistic she’ll run a big race.”

After winning the first two starts of her career, including the 2024 Untapable Stakes at the Fair Grounds, Her Laugh is winless in five subsequent starts, a streak that includes second-place finishes in the ’25 Suncoast Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs and a second-level allowance this past November at Churchill Downs in her first start in eight months.

Drawing the outside post in the field of seven older fillies and mares, Her Laugh will be ridden by John Velazquez.

Passage East, the Hugh McMahon trainee who won the $200,000 Barbara Fritchie Stakes last out, is the 2-1 morning line favorite. Sheldon Russell will ride.

In the other division, the Saffie Joseph, Jr.-trained Eunomia is the solid 6-5 favorite in a race in which the other six entrants are all between 5-1 and 10-1. An improving four-year-old filly by Tiz the Law, Eunomia had a two-race win streak snapped last out when third in the Grade 3 Royal Delta at Gulfstream Park. Flavien Prat will ride.

Post time for the card is 12 noon.
