Here’s a look at the “three stars” of each track:

FIRST STAR: ARNALDO BOCACHICA. Charles Town’s perennial leading rider, Arnaldo Bocachica, achieved a major career milestone on Wednesday when he won his 3,000th career race. He won the third race of the evening aboard Thunderturtle, rating off the pace, moving three-wide on the final turn, and kicking away to win by 3 3/4 lengths. Bocachica began his career in 2006, and has since become dominant at the West Virginia oval. He’s been the track’s leading rider seven years in a row, and is on pace for an eighth title. He’s won 159 races there this year, more than double the total of second-place Marshall Mendez. His career purse earnings total almost $57 million.

SECOND STAR: BERNIE’S MITTS. A field of second-level sprinters met for Parx’s feature race last Monday. Bernie’s Mitts, most recently seventh in the Parx Sprint on the Pennsylvania Derby undercard, rebounded with a gate-to-wire 1 1/4-length victory. He broke on top from post position two, battled early with Party at Sam’s from his inside, then pulled clear on the turn and kept them at bay. Paradise Valley cut into the margin late, but Bernie’s Mitts victory was already secure. He crossed the wire in 1:09.42, for his second win on the year in 11 starts. He’s owned by Nelson Berberna, trained by Jordan Bullock, and ridden by Kendry Rivera.

THIRD STAR: COOL INTENTIONS. Wednesday’s feature at Delaware Park was a second-level route for 3-year-olds and up at one mile on dirt. Cool Intentions had tried stakes rivals without success for most of this year, but dropping down to allowance company proved to be what he needed. He rated towards the back of the pack early on, then rallied wide in the center of the track and drew off late. He ran the distance in a fast track in 1:39.03 with Jose Batista aboard for owner AMO Racing USA and trainer Jorge Delgado.

LAUREL PARK

FIRST STAR: YEDSIT HAZLEWOOD. Rode multiple winners every day this weekend, including three winners on Saturday.

SECOND STAR: LADY ENSIGN. Went gate-to-wire to win a first-level grass sprint on Sunday with Hazlewood aboard.

THIRD STAR: BODE’S MAKER. Stormed down the center of the track to win a starter optional claiming grass route on Sunday; he’s now finished in the exacta 34 times in 65 starts.

CHARLES TOWN

FIRST STAR: ARNALDO BOCACHICA. Charles Town’s finest had an even bigger spotlight shine on him on Wednesday.

SECOND STAR: RADAR ALERT. Got up in the last few jumps in a non-winners of three sprint later on the Wednesday card with Bocachica aboard.

THIRD STAR: SERENADE ME. Went gate-to-wire in a non-winners of three contest for fillies and mares on the Saturday program.

DELAWARE PARK

FIRST STAR: COOL INTENTIONS. A drop in class earned him a trip to the winner’s circle.

SECOND STAR: FRACK BABY. Rallied up the inside to win a second-levels print later on the Saturday card.

THIRD STAR: JULIO HERNANDEZ. Turned a riding hat trick on Saturday.

MEADOWLANDS

FIRST STAR: SKYLOFT. Made his first start off a seven-month layoff a winning one on Saturday, taking a first-level sprint in gate-to-wire style to improve to 4-for-4 on the year.

SECOND STAR: RIGEL. Beat starter optional claiming rivals on Friday, taking his season record to 5-for-6.

THIRD STARS: FERNANDO JARA, KATIE DAVIS, AND FRANCISCO MARTINEZ. Each of these riders won two races on a card over the weekend: Jara on Friday; Davis and Martinez on Saturday.

PARX RACING

FIRST STAR: BERNIE’S MITT’S. Showcased his speed and determination for a win in Monday’s feature.

SECOND STAR: SECURED LANDING. Led for every step in a starter optional claiming route earlier on the Monday card.

THIRD STAR: BERMUDA RUN. Beat high-primed claiming foes on Tuesday while going six furlongs in a sharp 1:10.92.
