Charles Town picks and analysis: October 4, 2025
Picks and analysis for this afternoon’s card from Charles Town Races:
- RACES ON CARD: 8
- CARRYOVERS:Â Jackpot Pick 6, $6,851
- POST TIME: 7:00 p.m.
RACE 1
4. Mon Gateau | Has been first or second in last four versus nickel types; speed of the speed should be winging it by his lonesome early |
5. Abuelo Paps | We’ll give this guy another crack after off-color outing in latest; first in the King barn |
1. Jester’s Song | Beaten fave in latest is two starts removed from allowance win |
RACE 2
3. Afleet Vintage | Two-back speed figure possibly inflated after 15-length win but had reasonable follow-up; shifts into Walters barn (31% off the trainer switch) |
5. Grand Park View | Second start off the bench after getting run off his feet at CNL; winner repeated with an 82 Beyer fig |
2. Gericault | Has run well without winning in prior three-turn attempts: three seconds from five starts |
RACE 3
2. Penguin Victory | Well bet in otherwise nondescript bow; should appreciate added ground and gets leading rider up |
5. Outwork Girl | Exits same race as — and finished slightly ahead of — top choice |
7. Preshow Hype | Has seven seconds or thirds on her 10-race resume, which gets you to using her in the exotics but dubious about the top spot |

RACE 4
6. Rum N Coke | Couldn’t withstand late run of talented Pascaline in latest, but nothing like that runner is here; possibly speed of the speed |
1. Racing Hot Line | Late-running veteran may get a lively pace to close into; finished just a length back of top choice two back in such a scenario |
5. Magical Surprise | Curious to see how they play this one: gun for the lead or stalk-and-pounce? |
RACE 5
4. Suzies Pride | Makes third start off the bench after OK try on the lawn; prior dirt try was good |
5. Song and a Breeze | Returns to preferred surface in second in Murdock barn |
6. Slanderous | Might be able to shake loose early and make ’em come catch her |
RACE 6
2. Heart’s Compass | Wide journey in latest and tired in later stages; drawn better inside today |
4. Our Lady Peace | Backed out in first in Farrior barn; having experience over the strip a plus |
5. Mamawasagogogirl | Ran on late last out but not sure enough pace will develop to get her over the top |
RACE 7
1. Serenade Me | Lightly raced sort might be controlling speed; no answers for 1-5 Delaware shipper in latest but finished just behind today’s chalk |
4. Wynsome Cat | Major player here but how low do you want to go after she was beaten at 1-9 and 7-5 |
3. Slow No Mo | Arrives off a win and has been consistently competitive |
RACE 8
2. Claw | Gonna be a handful if he runs back any of his recent races and should appreciate the drop in class |
5. Missionsninetynine | Got a freshening after some off-color races; has better to run back to and speed to be engaged early |
9. Cajun Joe | Class drop a positive but could be hung out in the parking lot again |
