Delaware Park picks and analysis: September 20, 2025
- CARRYOVERS: None
- POST TIME: 12:30 P.M.
- NUMBER OF RACES: 9
RACE 1
| 5. Bold Ambition | Could be cycling back to better form and, with plenty of early foot, should be one-two early; best wins |
| 8. Secret Treasure | Has caught two rivals that moved up the class ladder and repeated in last two outings |
| 7. First Shot Fired | Made first dirt try a winning one in off-the-turf contest at Penn but not thinking he beat much |
RACE 2
| 3. Buds Notion | Great Notion gelding has been firing a.m. bullets towards debut outing; Great Notion’s a win-early influence and trainer Capuano is 6-for-10 with 2yo firsters in special weight company the last two years |
| 2. Power Grid | Has run too well to lose in last couple; cutback to six furlongs appears to be a positive, and should be a handful on best |
| 1. Law of Ozz | Modest worktab but trainer Compton can get ’em ready to win first out and this one’s by Tiz the Law (15% with 2yo debut runners) |
RACE 3
| 1. Ada May | Makes third start off the bench and in Dutrow barn; three of four from most recent tilt have won their follow-ups; should be able to use speed to best advantage |
| 6. La Tremenda | Arrives on two-race heater with improving figs |
| 2. Answer the Call | Second off the bench and takes appropriate class drop |
RACING NOTES
- Trainer Michael Gorham was the only two-time winner Thursday. Gorham got a maiden special weight score from Miss Fulton Gal ($5.80) in the opener and a claiming win from Rose Gold Candy ($26.00). Raul Mena rode Miss Fulton Gal, and Madeline Rowland was on Rose Gold Candy…
RACE 4
| 7. Gift of Gab | Recent form’s not great, but this Fast Anna mare has plenty of back class; best wins here, and trainer Stettinius is 8-for-29 the last three months |
| 10. Baby Blocks | Beat similar two back and is two-for-two over the DEL lawn |
| 12. Lady Zeta | Good form now and looks for stalk-and-pounce trip |
RACE 5
| 5. Ray’s Blue Wagon | Shrugged off a couple of longshots who pressed the pace but just failed to withstand closer in improved last outing; makes first start in Kravets barn having a solid meet |
| 4. Electioneering | Graduated in latest and was claimed by hard-hitting Magee barn; improving sort gets 10-pound bug in search of first ever win |
| 8. War Commander | Drops in class for third off the bench; best efforts put him right there |
RACE 6
| 5. He’s in Charge | Has won seven straight versus similar and is 12-for-31 at the trip; hard to poke any holes in this guy |
| 8. Leonids | Has run well in last couple, and two-back winner Practical Coach is the most recent horse to defeat top choice; should be involved early |
| 7. Undalay | Blinkers off an interesting move here; speedy works in preparation and didn’t miss by much versus top choice two back |
RACE 7
| 5. Old Flag | Arrives off a win versus similar and should get a lively pace to run into |
| 8. Jades Jay | Speedy sort ran big versus a half-step better before settling for third in latest; should be part of the early pace in first in Alcala barn |
| 12. Citizen K | Middle move in latest before tiring in late stages; two-back win came at the expense of #8 |
RACE 8
| 3. De Angelo | Nice win against allowance foes in latest for third straight good outing; two back winner repeated in N2X company at MTH; should be able to use tactical speed to best advantage |
| 6. Take a Hint | Easily beat similar two back, and though he had no answers versus N3X rivals last out, he might have left his race in the gate; could be speed of the speed |
| 7. J D Factor | Best efforts win here, but note that he’s done his best work going longer: he’s 0-for-4 going less than 6 1/2 furlongs and may not be able to control this one on the front end |
RACE 9
| 2. Look Sharp | Nothing wrong with season bow when shrugging off pace pressure but run down late; can improve off that and like that connex protect him |
| 7. Sir Mendel | Good form now; hopes for pace pressure |
| 4. Rolly | Feels like he’s forging towards better efforts after willing outing in latest; could be wrong but we suspect you’ll get better odds than the morning line |
