Mid-Atlantic three stars: June 15, 2026
Plenty of racing action took place throughout the Mid-Atlantic this past week.
Here’s a look at the “three stars” of each track:
REGION’S BEST

FIRST STAR: LUV YOUR NEIGHBOR. Delaware Park hosted six stakes races on Saturday as part of a record handle-setting program, including the Delaware Oaks, featuring a field of seven 3-year-old fillies traveling 1 1/16 miles. Luv Your Neighbor, who finished second or third in her previous five stakes tries, finally broke through for her first stakes victory. She broke from the outside post and was caught wide most of the way, but still had enough in the tank to make her move on the final turn. Favored Jumping the Gun, who worked out a more ground-saving trip, gave her a fight, but Luv Your Neighbor managed to pull clear in the final strides and win by 1 1/4 lengths, going the distance in 1:44.05. Jumping the Gun held second, while early leader Dazzling Dame held third. The winner is now 2-5-1 in nine career starts with earnings of $474,271. She’s owned by Lael Stables, trained by Mike Stidham, and ridden by Luis Saez.
SECOND STAR: EAST AVENUE. A few dozen miles up the highway, Monmouth Park hosted a quartet of Saturday stakes races, including the Salvator Mile for older males on dirt. The race featured a thrilling stretch duel between favored Bishops Bay, who ran a huge race after dueling for the early lead, and East Avenue, who raced ell off the pace and rallied four-wide on the turn. The two battled heads apart in the final eighth, but East Avenue ultimately put his nose in front on the wire. This was East Avenue’s fourth win in 11 career starts. He’s now won one graded stakes race at ages 2, 3 and 4. Tyler Gaffalione was up for the Brendan Walsh-trained Godolphin homebred.
THIRD STAR: DONA CLOTA. Earlier on the Saturday card at Delaware, a field of six older fillies and mares traveled 1 3/8 miles on grass in the Robert Dick Memorial Stakes. Dona Clota, a multiple grade 1 winner in Chile, broke through for her first graded stakes win in the United States by a neck. Storm Miami, who was the lone speed on paper, set an uncontested early pace, while Dona Clota rated towards the back of the pack along the inside. As they rounded the third and final turn, Irad Ortiz angled her into the three-path and asked her for her best. She got up to win in a three-horse blanket finish, with Alluring Angel second and Storm Miami third by a head (disqualified to fourth for causing interference at the top of the stretch). The winner ran the distance on a firm grass track in 2:16.77. She’s owned by Resolute Racing and trained by Saffie Joseph.
LAUREL PARK
FIRST STAR: HARK THEANGELSSING. Wore down early leader Gerrards Cross in the final strides to win Sunday’s Stormy Blues Stakes.
SECOND STAR: SUREMEANTTOOBE. Led the way and fended off the challenge of Don’t Wait Up to win a second-level allowance dirt sprint earlier on Sunday.
THIRD STAR: BUSHIDO. Utilized his blazing early speed to win a second-level allowance dash on the lawn on Sunday.
CHARLES TOWN
FIRST STAR: RAY OF SUNSHINE. Vied for the lead throughout and held on to win Saturday’s Confucius Say Stakes against fellow West Virginia-breds.
SECOND STAR: DUNCAN IDAHO. Continued his dominant run with a victory in an open allowance dash on Friday, getting up in the last few jumps over Honeyquist.
THIRD STAR: TALKLESSWORKMORE. Led all the way in a first-level allowance route later on the Friday program.
DELAWARE PARK
FIRST STAR: LUV YOUR NEIGHBOR. Loved her first trip to Delaware Park, taking the Delaware Oaks despite a wide trip.
SECOND STAR: DONA CLOTA. Took advantage of a fantastic ride to win the Robert Dick.
THIRD STAR: BIG CUDDLE. Proved his Sir Barton win was no fluke with a four-length triumph in Saturday’s Delaware Derby.
MONMOUTH PARK
FIRST STAR: EAST AVENUE. Called on all his determination to win an exciting Salvator Mile.
SECOND STAR: GIMME A NOTHER. Won her first start off a nine-month layoff in Saturday’s Eatontown Stakes.
THIRD STAR: PROGRAM TRADING. Kicked on in the stretch to win the Monmouth Stakes later on the Saturday card.
PARX RACING
FIRST STAR: ADERO. Turned in a massive bounce-back performance on Monday, capturing a second-level allowance route by 11 1/4 lengths.
SECOND STAR: PACO THE TACO MAN. Found room late and got up to win a starter optional claiming sprint on Monday, for his fourth win in a row and his fifth in his last six starts.
THIRD STAR: MORE THAN GRACE. Captured her fourth consecutive race with a gate-to-wire score in a starter optional claiming sprint on Tuesday.
