Md-bred Dazzling Dame gearing up for Kentucky Oaks
Multiple stakes winner is 30-1 on the morning line
Respect the Valleys, Medallion Racing and Madaket Stables’ Dazzling Dame was on the sloppy main track at Churchill Downs 7:30 Wednesday morning with Emma Wolfe aboard for trainer Brittany Russell.

Dazzling Dame has three stakes wins, among them a win earlier this year in the Busanda at Aqueduct and one last fall in the White Clay Creek at Delaware Park. Most recently she finished second in the Virginia Oaks, earning her spot in the Oaks starting gate.
Since the Virginia Oaks, Dazzling Dame has posted four half-mile works at the Fair Hill training center, one of Russell’s two Maryland bases.
On Wednesday Dazzling Dame jogged to the five-eighths pole at Churchill and then back to the mile chute and had a schooling session at the starting gate before galloping a mile.
Russell, who is saddling her first Oaks runner, was asked what the best possible scenario would be for Dazzling Dame, who will exit post 7 under two-time Oaks-winning rider Luis Saez.
“I’d like to see her get away clean and get in a comfortable spot,” Russell said. “She doesn’t have to be on the lead and we are not going to be hellbent to get on the lead.”
