Penn National bookkeeper allegedly stole over $700,000

Yearlong investigation points to big-dollar fraud

A former Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course employee has been charged in connection with the alleged theft of more than $700,000, WPMT-Harrisburg reports.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, casino staff reported suspicious activity on March 17, 2025. Investigators say Jennifer Petrillo, a part-time horse racing bookkeeper, allegedly conspired with a family member to divert funds to herself. The issue came to light when another employee noticed accounting discrepancies.

Troopers were told that only three employees, including Petrillo, had access to the online bookkeeping system, and that her duties included issuing physical checks on behalf of the business.

Officials discovered multiple accounts with negative balances in the tens of thousands of dollars, along with numerous unfamiliar accounts. The alleged activity dates back to June 2024, when checks were reportedly issued to unknown accounts and individuals.

One account tied to the transactions showed spending on luxury spa services, LEGO purchases, a Tesla Model 3, plastic surgery procedures, investments through Robinhood, and transfers via Cash App.

State police estimate the total suspected fraud at $727,446.65.

Petrillo, of Manheim, has been charged with theft, computer trespassing, and other felony offenses. Bail was set at $10,000, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 24.
