Two March 22 races, new maiden bonuses unveiled
The Maryland Million Ltd. is proud to announce two new Maryland Million Races running March 22, 2026, each offering $10,000 in bonuses for Maryland Million-eligible horses.
The two starter races will give Maryland Million-eligible horses preference, and Maryland Million-eligible horses will split bonuses for each race as follows: $5,000 to the highest finisher, $2,000 to the second highest finisher, $1,000 to the third highest finisher, $500 to the next four highest. Bonuses will be paid out by Maryland Million Ltd. and not part of the purses.

Maryland Million Ltd. is also announcing new 5 percent Maryland Million bonuses for maiden winners. Beginning March 1, 2026, any Maryland Million-eligible horse that wins a maiden race in Maryland will earn a 5 percent bonus on the winner’s share of the base purse.
Only horses by Maryland Million stallions, who were conceived in Maryland and fully nominated/certified to the Maryland Million program, are considered eligible for any Maryland Million program. Stallions must have been nominated for the specific year the horse was conceived.
The brainchild of the Hall of Fame ABC Sportscaster and long-time Marylander, Jim McKay Maryland Million Day was named in his honor by a resolution of the Maryland General Assembly in 2009. The event was first run at Laurel Park in 1986 and alternated between Laurel and Pimlico for the first few years until settling at Laurel Park.
