We catch up on the latest jockey and trainer statistics from Maryland. Who’s hot (and not)?
As the 2025 season rolls on, we’re tracking the jockey and trainer statistics from the year and weekly, and we dig in a little deeper.
The numbers:
LAUREL PARK JOCKEYS
Yedsit Hazlewood and Jevian Toledo won six times each last week at Laurel to lead all riders, with Toledo going 6-for-16… Martin Chuan won five races, and Forest Boyce won three… JG Torrealba, Yan Rodriguez, and Xavier Perez each won a pair, and overall, 17 riders won at least once… Hazlewood has 51 wins at the meet, 18 more than Jorge Ruiz and 20 ahead of Toledo… Ruiz leads the meet with 11.40 added wins, comparing actual wins to wins projected by runners’ odds, with Hazlewood second at 8.75… Among the 29 riders with at least 30 starts at the meet, Sheldon Russell has pulled in a meet-leading 21.52% of available purse money, with Hazlewood second at 21.02%… The figures below are year-to-date and not meet-specific…
