Friday brings five Breeders’ Cup races, the five juvenile contests. That includes the Juvenile Fillies Turf, featuring the top two finishers from Laurel Park’s Selima Stakes.

We asked our experts for their picks for all five races, and they’ll be back Saturday for the full slate of Breeders’ Cup contests, as well.

Here’s what they came up with:

BREEDERS’ CUP JUVENILE TURF SPRINT

The action kicks off in the sixth race from Del Mar, which is scheduled for 2:45 Pacific time… Our experts couldn’t agree on a top choice, as the four pickers picked four different winners, but they all agreed that the Group 1-placed British runner #1 Brussels (8-1) needs to be on the ticket… #3 Royal Testament, winner of the Rosie’s at Colonial Downs in August, is 12-1 on the morning line… #9 True Love is the tepid 7-2 favorite after a Group 1 win in the Cheveley Park at Newmarket… 

BREEDERS’ CUP JUVENILE FILLIES

On paper a pretty contentious group, but our ‘cappers think they’ve zeroed in here… The morning line favorite, at 5-2, is #7 Explora, one of two Bob Baffert trainees in the field, and three of four land on her… Derby Bill takes #5 Tommy Jo (7-2) for Todd Pletcher, the beaten favorite last out in the Alcibiades… Six of nine made their most recent prior start in SoCal…

BREEDERS’ CUP JUVENILE FILLIES TURF

#13 Precise is a towering 6-5 favorite in this 13-horse field and arrives on a four-race heater that includes a pair of Group 1 wins in Ireland and England… Don’t sleep on #1 Ultimate Love (8-1), easy winner of the Selima at Laurel Park last out for trainer Mike Trombetta: nobody’s come within a Zip code of her yet…

BREEDERS’ CUP JUVENILE

The day’s biggest favorite is in this eight-horse contest, and that’s the undefeated #8 Ted Noffey (4-5), a two-time Grade 1 winner for Todd Pletcher who’s been mostly unchallenged to date… Bob Baffert counters with the speedy #7 Brant (5-2), who’s two-for-two in his young career, including a win over the strip in the Del Mar Futurity (G1) in September…

BREEDERS’ CUP JUVENILE TURF

Continuing an unusual trend. the big favorite in this contest breaks from the far outside… That’s #14 Gstaad (9-5), a Group 2 winner in England who’s finished second in three consecutive Group 1 races… He’s the top choice of two of our experts, but two others are looking around, one towards #13 Hey Nay Nay (8-1), the undefeated winner of the G3 Del Mar Juvenile Turf in September, and one towards G2 Pilgrim show horse #5 Let’s Be Frank (15-1), who with a win would break his maiden…
