Paul Fowler’s Probably Dreaming notched his first career stakes victory in the Delaware bred or certified $117,750 First State Dash at Delaware Park today.

With Carlos Eduardo Lopez aboard, the 2-year-old son of Improbable, won by 2 1/4-lengths and returned $6.80 as the favorite in the field of eight. The Kentucky-bred conditioned by Gary Capuano covered the six furlongs in 1:11.30 over a fast-main track. Lundi Loot, with Jose Batista, finished second. It was another three lengths farther back to Code of Silence, with Angel Cruz, in third.

In his first career outing, Probably Dreaming broke his maiden by 3 1/2-lengths at Laurel Park going five and a half furlongs on June 14. He now has two career wins from as many starts.  He garnered $70,000 for his victory in the First State Dash to raise his career earnings to $98,200.

“He is a good-looking horse and he trains good,” said winning trainer Gary Capuano. “He ran great his first time out. We have not really been able to get anything for him since then, but he was coming into this really good. I was kind of a little surprised that he broke so sharp. He is usually not that quick out of the gate. He really ran a great race. I am thinking the Rocky Run (October 11) here next month for his next start. He acts like he wants to go a route of ground, so if everything comes back good, that will likely be his next start.”
