In the final weekend of the meet, the seven furlong Grade I Spinaway Stakes caps off a successful string of Saturdays at the Spa for Midlantic breds. Headlined by Book’em Danno’s dominance at Saratoga this summer, the Midlantic invaders have completed one of their strongest meets here as the breeding program continues to produce quality runners to take on the best in the country. Looking to continue this strong meet in the Spinaway is Virginia bred Day to Day, a less heralded entry who starts in just her second race as she looks to kick off a long and fruitful racing career.

Breaking from the outside ten post, this Saffie Joseph Jr. trainee by McKinzie – Clockstrucktwelve, by Malibu Moon appears overmatched with a bevy of others who were more impressive upon first asking. In this race exclusively for two year old fillies, many of the entries won convincingly at first asking, with 5/2 morning line Mythical already a perfect three for three in her career including a grade III win last time. Starting her career on the turf for Michael Trombetta, Day to Day was able to narrowly win at Colonial Downs in a five and half furlong sprint. Closing from well off the pace in that one, she now gets a bit more distance to aim at and may get a favorable pace set up for her late running style here. Mythical set blistering fractions in her Adirondack win last time, and is likely to do the same here as others look to catch her late. Day to Day would not only need her late running form to translate to dirt here, but would also need to improve to match the closing kicks of others. Picking up the meet’s fourth place rider in Ricardo Santana Jr. certainly helps, as this filly bred by R. Larry Johnson faces a tough test to pick up her second win in as many starts. Owned by C Two Racing Stable, BAG Racing Stables, Barry Fowler, Charles H. Deters, and Mark J. Taylor, Day to Day starts as the longest shot on the morning line with odds of 30/1.
