We catch up on the latest jockey and trainer statistics from Colonial Downs. Who’s hot (and not)?
We’re halfway through the meet, so we’re beginning to see some recognizable trends. How does it look with several weeks left to go?
The numbers:
COLONIAL DOWNS JOCKEYS
Paco Lopez led the way with six wins from 20 mounts last week, while Mychel Sanchez was right behind with five… Jevian Toledo added three, and Jorge Ruiz, Johan Rosado, Stephen Mulqueen, Horacio Karamanos, Ben Curtis, and Forest Boyce each chipped in a pair. Twenty riders won at least one race…
On the season, Curtis leads the standings with 28 wins from 119 mounts. Lopez (26), Sanchez (22), and Axel Concepcion (15) are next, Toledo and Ruiz tied with 13 apiece to round out the top five…
When it comes to added wins—a measure of how often a rider wins compared to what the betting odds would suggest—Curtis (4.72) is the current leader, followed by jumps rider Graham Watters, who’s 7-for-11 with 3.95 added wins. Lopez (+3.50) has also delivered… Concepcion (2.12) is the only other rider above 2.0 added wins… The range of all riders is 4.72 to (-2.97)…
In terms of purse efficiency, jumps riders Graham Watters (40.6%) and Stephen Mulqueen (23.%) are tops…. Among flat riders, Paco Lopez (20.7%) and Ben Curtis (19.5%) are the top pair…

For the year, Trombetta has opened up a six-win lead for the trainer crown with 22, with Brittany Russell his nearest pursuer at 16… Jamie Ness (10 wins) is the only other conditioner in double figures…
Trombetta is the meet leader with 6.00 added wins, measuring actual wins compared to wins expected by odds… Jack Fisher, with six wins from 12 starters, is next at 3.56 added wins… The range of all trainers is 6.00 to (-2.16)…
