RACE 1: MAIDEN CLAIMING $12,500, 2-YEAR-OLDS, 4 FURLONGS
- #1 – Go Lang (9-5): First-time starter has put in very good workouts at his Charles Town base and should be ready to go this afternoon.
- #5 – My Boy Bud (8-1): Improved dramatically at second asking last out, holding fourth after showing some speed.
- #3 – Lucky Galan (9-2): Has some good workouts, but might need a race; the tote board will tell the story.
RACE 2: CLAIMING $5,000, 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, FILLIES AND MARES, 4 FURLONGS
- #4 – Bashful Daisy (6-1): Not the fastest horse out of the gate, but she’s won three of her last five going short at Charles Town.
- #3 – Golden Can (7-2): Hasn’t won in a while, but she gets class relief and her speed figures fit with these.
- #6 – Luckbealadytonight (6-1): Should get a nice trip just off the lead on the outside.
RACE 3: CLAIMING $5,000 (N/W2L), 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, 6 1/2 FURLONGS
- #2 – Not So Holy (6-5): He’s burned a lot of money in the past year or so, but he’s in improving form, and today should finally be the day.
- #3 – Bad Boy Blaze (10-1): Makes his first start for trainer Alison Delgado; he’s likely been pointed specifically for a spot like this.
- #1 – Ellinger (3-1): He runs his best races when on the lead.
RACE 4: MAIDEN CLAIMING $5,000, 3-6-YEAR-OLDS, FILLIES AND MARES, 6 1/2 FURLONGS
- #7– Teddy’s Lucky Girl (5-2): Half-sister to millionaire Eastern Bay; she’s shown slow but steady improvement, and Tim Keefe runners tend to get better with time.
- #2 – Lorraine’s Way (5-1): It’ll be gate-to-wire or bust for this speedy filly.
- #4 – Talbot Heirloom (9-5): She loves to finish second, and gets blinkers for the first time.
RACE 5: CLAIMING $10,000 (N/W2L), 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, FILLIES AND MARES, 4 FURLONGS
- #3– Full of Shenanigans (7-5): Blazing-fast filly will be almost impossible to beat if she breaks well.
- #5– Curl N Rod (5-2): Ran well in her first start off a 7-month layoff last out.
- #2– Infatuation (12-1): Gets a much-needed distance cutback from one mile.
RACE 6: ALLOWANCE OPTIONAL CLAIMING (N/W1X), 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, 1 MILE
- #6 – Uncle Cat (7-2): Has good tactical speed and gets a key rider switch to Tais Lyapustina.
- #1 – Alejandro (8-1): Spent the spring and summer being outclassed in the Midwest; this looks like a better spot.
- #5 – Kbcya Later (12-1): Won three of his last four dirt starts, and might’ve won last out if he could’ve gotten settled.
RACE 7: CLAIMING $16,000 (CONDITIONED), 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, FILLIES AND MARES, 6 1/2 FURLONGS
- #1 – Lift the Lid (10-1): Raced over her head for most of the year and had a tough trip last out; today looks like the day.
- #3 – Antonacci Girl (9-5): She has ability, but doesn’t always sustain her moves; Arnaldo Bocachica must time it just right to win.
- #4 – Ade (5-2): Look for her to do her best running late.
RACE 8: ALLOWANCE OPTIONAL CLAIMING (N/W2X), 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, FILLIES AND MARES, 1 MILE
- #5 – Cluck Cluck (9-5): As long as she runs her usual race, she’ll win very easily.
- #4 – Lovely Charm (5-2): She’s held her own at this level last year, and should round out a short exacta behind her stablemate.
- #2 – Gourmet (6-1): Won three starts back at Penn National and has good late speed.
RACE 9: SHINE AGAIN STAKES, 3-YEAR-OLDS AND UP, FILLIES AND MARES, 6 1/2 FURLONGS
- #1– I’m a Cutie Pie (6-1): Should get a great trip off the pace on the rail and convert.
- #5 – Chapa (9-5): She was third to the very tough sprinter Carmelina in her last two dirt starts; now gets away from that rival.
- #6 – Discreet Ops (2-1): Won impressively in her last start in late March; we’ll see how she does first off a 146-day break.
RACE 10: MAIDEN CLAIMING $40,000, 2-YEAR-OLDS, FILLIES, 6 1/2 FURLONGS
- #4– Tipmanee (5-2): She was second to the very promising Just Philtored last out; that rival in in a stakes at Colonial Downs earlier today, and if she wins, it’ll boost this one’s stock.
- #3 – Kittyup (4-1): Phil Capuano is very sharp with first-time starters; watch the board.
- #6 – Doc’s Miracle (2-1): She’s had her chances, but at least gets class relief.
