Delaware Park picks and analysis: June 18, 2025
Picks and analysis for this afternoon’s card from Delaware Park:
- RACES ON CARD: 8
- CARRYOVERS: None
- POST TIME: 12:35 p.m.
RACE 1
7. Parkerness | Back-to-back clunkers, but this one has much better to run back to; should get a good trip either on the lead or pressing to the outside |
5. Sway’sinmydna | Big effort last out and makes third start off the bench |
3. Trumpet Call | Never looked comfortable in latest and now takes a precipitous drop; inclined to give him another shot because his best is so clearly a winning race in this group, but wouldn’t put all the eggs in this basket |
RACE 2
1. Super Tiz | Heavily bet in debut; switches barns, gets blinkers off, drops out of MSW ranks, so a lot of changes going on; bullet work in preparation |
6. Super Casper | Ran a good one last out when second to class-dropping 3-5 favorite; not sure the cutback to 6f does this one any favors, as he’s not likely to get away with a 49 2/5 half |
4. Downtown Man | Winner of debut has now won three straight and got a 76 Beyer fig in latest; had no answers against special weight foes at CT but return to claiming ranks should aid the cause |
RACE 3 – OFF THE TURF
3. Nicky Jolene | Likely to be loose on the lead, and maybe this time will seal the deal |
8. Delayed | Nice step forward in latest on turf, though not sure how likely she is to post today |
7. The Feisty One | Even effort behind top choice in latest in a race that’s produced a next-out winner |
14. Bella Estrela | Graduated against $25k maiden claimers |

RACE 4
6. Dance for Green | Useful return to action in latest and winner returned to be second against $10,000 foes nine days later |
2. Woke Up in Love | Stinker in latest and off for two months not the greatest signs, but the Simone barn does well first off the claim; a major player on best |
5. Starship Mocha | Agostini barn looks to get off the duck after five runner-up finishes; helpful drop in class |
RACE 5 – OFF THE TURF
4. If I Were You | Bested all but the winner in latest, and that runner is more of a dirt horse than a turfer; tactical enough to get a trip |
11. Strand Road | In a race light on speed, wouldn’t be a surprise to see the rider send this stretching-out sprinter |
5. Cobblestone Bridge | Destroyed the field in off-the-turf maiden event; repeat of that wins here, but expect short odds |
RACING NOTES
- Check out the latest jockey and trainer stats through June 14 here…
- Didn’t see as much of the usual suspects in the stirrups Saturday, as Paco Lopez and Irad Ortiz, Jr. dominated the scene. The former won four times, including aboard Malibu Beauty ($22.00) in the Obeah Stakes and Vote No ($6.40) in the Cape Henlopen. Ortiz won three, including the G3 Delaware Oaks aboard Fondly ($9.80) and Full Moon Madness ($5.80) in the Alapocas Run…
- Trainer Graham Motion won twice, including with Fondly in the Oaks, while Kelsey Danner also won two, among them Vote No in the Cape Henlopen. Danner is 3-for-3 at the meet…
RACE 6
1. Power Humor | Has been facing better and may be controlling speed |
8. Style Me Royal | Trainer Simone has a positive ROI second off the claim; drops out of tougheer |
6. Mat Matters | Only bad outing in last three came in a race in which the gate malfunctioned, leaving him and others up against it and race declared no contest |
RACE 7 – OFF THE TURF
8. Stress Reliever | MTO runner responded well when stretched out to two turns for the first time |
4. Beautiful Blome | Makes first start since March and first outside of stakes company since maiden win |
12. Volatility | Has plenty of early lick if they want to use it |
RACE 8
6. Mandy’s Miss | The pace could be lively for this group, and this miss did run into a pace for her maiden score; back into the Dieter barn |
5. Stormin Heist | Trainer Siculietano 5/15 with a $5.85 ROI second off the claim |
3. Judith’s Cross | Made good use of first dirt try last out for red-hot Saville barn; rider Hamilton in for just the one mount |
