We catch up on the latest jockey and trainer statistics from Charles Town Races. Who’s hot (and not)?

We break it down: total wins, percentage of purse money earned, added wins, and, new this week, wins in most recent 50 starts (jockeys) or 25 starts (trainers).

The numbers:

JOCKEY TOP 10 WINS

Arnaldo Bocachica went 4-for-9 last week and continues to extend his lead, as he now has more than twice as many wins as his nearest pursuer… Luis Batista was 3-for-9, while Marshall Mendez, Angel Cruz, and JD Acosta all won twice… 11 riders won at least one race… Most of the Saturday card was washed out by the weather; it was canceled after three races…

JOCKEY TOP 10 PERCENTAGE OF PURSE EARNED

Marshall Mendez and Angel Cruz both inched past Larry Reynolds (0-for-1 this week) in percentage of purse earned, but the top 10 was otherwise unchanged from the prior week

JOCKEY TOP 10 BY ADDED WINS

Victor Rodriguez (0-for-8 this past week) maintains a narrowed lead over Angel Cruz and Arnaldo Bocachica in added wins, comparing a rider’s actual wins to what the odds of his or her starters would have predicted, as both of those riders closed the gap last week… Off his 3-win week, Luis Batista moved into the top 10… The full range is 8.81 to (-11.39)…

JOCKEY TOP 10 BY WINS IN THEIR LAST 50 STARTS

This simply looks at the number of wins each jockey has posted in his or her last 50 starts… 29 riders qualify, having made at least 50 starts at the meet…

TRAINERS TOP 10 BY WINS

Anthony Farrior went 4-for-7 last week to pace all trainers and is starting to open up the lead in the trainer standings… Tim Shanley, Javier Contreras, and Ralph Comi all won twice, with Comi going 2-for-3… 13 different trainers won at least one race…

TRAINERS TOP 10 BY PERCENTAGE OF PURSE EARNED

It takes 12 wins at this point to be among the top 10, and Anthony Farrior and Jeff Runco are the only trainers in the top 10 in both wins and percentage of purse earned… Farrior jumped from eighth to fifth on the strength of his good week…

TRAINER TOP 10 BY ADDED WINS

Jeff Runco has more than double the number of any other trainer in added wins, comparing a trainer’s actual wins to what the odds of his or her starters would have predicted… Ralph Comi is new to the top 10, while Ronney Brown is just outside it after going 0-for-7 last week… The range of all trainers is 10.62 to (-5.38)…

TRAINER TOP 10 BY WINS IN THEIR LAST 25 STARTS

This simply looks at the number of wins each trainer has posted in his or her last 25 starts… 53 trainers have made at least 25 starts at the meet…
