Penn Mile to be delayed another week

For the second time, the Penn Mile will be pushed back. The Grade 3, one-mile turf test for three-year-olds is now slated for June 27, according to a press release.

Originally scheduled for May 30, the race, the anchor of Penn National’s biggest day of racing, was pushed back three weeks because of pending weather. Now you can add another week to the delay, again because of “significant, persistent rainfall in the local forecast,” according to the release.

The Penn Mile, along with supporting turf races the Penn Oaks, for three-year-old fillies, and the state-bred Lyphard Stakes and Alphabet Soup Handicap, will all be run June 27 with a 5:00 p.m. post time. The four stakes will be contested as already drawn.

The seven other races on June 20 card will be contested as scheduled, with first race post set for 5:00 p.m.
