Laurel Park was in action for three days of live racing this past weekend, and we’re crunching the numbers on jockey and trainer stats: wins, percentage of purse earned, added wins.

Stats are year-to-date in Maryland and not meet-specific. Here are the numbers:

JOCKEY TOP 10 WINS

Five jockeys — JG Torrealba, Sheldon Russell, Jorge Ruiz, Samuel Marin, and Wes Hamilton — each won twice last week, with Marin going 2-for-3… Jaime Rodriguez, who scuffled a bit through a 1-for-18 week, remains far and away the leader in wins to date… There were no newcomers to the top 10… Statistics are year-to-date and not confined to the current meet…

JOCKEY TOP 10 PERCENTAGE OF PURSE EARNED

Forest Boyce, out with an injury this past week, remains the leader in percentage of purse earned and looks to be back this weekend, when she is named to ride in 15 races… Raul Mena, 1-for-3 including a first and a third in stakes, moved into third in percentage of purse earned, up from sixth a week ago… The top 10 remains intact with some changes in the order…

JOCKEY TOP 10 BY ADDED WINS

Raul Mena and Forest Boyce remain far ahead of other riders in added wins, comparing a jockey’s actual wins to the number that the odds of his or her mounts would have predicted… Jean Briceno (1-for-5) was the only newcomer into the top 10… The range of all riders is 7.06 to (-8.35)…

TRAINERS TOP 10 BY WINS

Brittany Russell went 3-for-9 last weekend, while Troy Singh was 2-for-4, as those two were the only trainers with more than one win… Russell is one win behind Jamie Ness this year despite having made 44 fewer starts in Maryland… There were no newcomers to the top 10 by wins… Four trainers with 10 or more starts this year in Maryland are winless here…

TRAINERS TOP 10 BY PERCENTAGE OF PURSE EARNED

With a productive week that included running one-two in the Weber City Miss Stakes, Brittany Russell jumped from fourth to first in percentage of purse earned… With a win in the Tesio and a third in the Weber City Miss, Michael Gorham moved from 10th to fourth in percentage of purse earned… The top 10 remained stable, with some shuffling of the order but no newcomers… Four trainers with seven or more starts are pulling in less than five percent of available purse money…

TRAINER TOP 10 BY ADDED WINS

Mike Gorham and Brittany Russell remain one-two in added wins, comparing a trainer’s actual wins to what the odds of his or her runners would have predicted… They are well clear of the rest… Newcomers to the top 10 this week are Madison Meyers and Anthony Farrior… Meyers was 1-for-3 during the week with first-out winner Twain, while Farrior also went 1-for-3… The range of all trainers is 6.38 to (-4.26)…
