RACE 1
5-4-2-1
In this one-turn maiden $5,000 claiming event for state-bred fillies and mares, #5 Bads Lil Lady (15-1) draws outside her main rivals and deserves a chance to reverse string of seventh-place efforts at a big price for trainer Russell Davis. #4 Hazy Winter (3-5) was sharp second last out after running third two back and could eventually be the shortest-priced favorite on the card for owner-trainer Kevin Joy. #2 Trueno Fuerte (3-1) has hardly been model of consistency but can atone for latest for trainer Joseph Stehr. #1 Petite n’ Smitty (7-2) makes career debut for trainer Marion Cuttino but must overcome tricky rail draw for first-timers.
RACE 2
4-6-3-2
In this two-turn event for state-bred $10,000 claimers, #4 Bonnie Bluetooth (9-5) exits allowance company after graduating two back and gets nod for mild upset in second half of the early daily double for trainer Ollie Figgins III. #6 Power Sonde (7-5) was sharp second last out after exiting allowance company and merits respect here for trainer and former local jockey Lori Bourne. #3 Excuses Excuses (3-1) was also solid second last out after graduating two back and deserves consideration here. #2 Magnificent Rocket (10-1) has been third in each of last two since graduating and could round out several gimmicks at a generous price.
- Maryland Juvenile: A mystery solved, decades laterSaturday’s Maryland Juvenile Stakes should be a fun race, but it’s unlikely to launch the careers of two Classic winners, like the 1982 edition did.
RACE 3
2-1-3-5
In this two-turn maiden $5,000 claiming event for fillies and mares, #2 Cookie Dunk Dunk (4-1) makes second start since exiting maiden special weight company and inside draw gives Jamey Johnson trainee ample opportunity to score. #1 Tapping South (10-1) has been sixth twice since exiting maiden special weight company but rail draw makes him usable value underneath in numerous gimmicks. #3 Willow’s Charm (9-5) was solid third in local debut last out for trainer Carlos Mancilla and merits respect as likely post time choice. #5 Golden Glow (5-1) makes second start since exiting maiden special weight company and can improve off latest.
RACE 4
5-7-3-6
In this very interesting one-turn allowance dash for fillies and mares, #5 My Pretty Eyes (3-1) saw three-race win streak come to an end last month when forced to race wide on speed biased track but gets nod to atone here for owner-breeder-trainer John McKee. #7 Aadhana (4-1) was also hindered by sloppy surface last out but gets favorable inside draw and likely return to fast track here and may be the one they need to overhaul late. #3 Mamba Queen (1-1) makes local debut after facing much tougher at Gulfstream, Churchill Downs and Saratoga but also looms odds-on choice in this spot for trainer Anthony Farrior. #6 Reign On and On (12-1) has tried allowance company three times since graduating against maiden special weight company but outside draw could help longshot’s chances.
RACE 5
1-2-6-3
In this two-turn event for $6,250 claimers, #1 Wall (3-1) has been second in each of previous two outings and gets favorable draw to enhance chance of ending brief bridesmaid status for trainer Rhea Pennella. #2 Positive Phil (7-5) won last out and likely dips below even-money while seeking second straight local tally for trainer Anthony Farrior. #6 Frankee Merch (5-1) won two back and was solid second last out and could forge mild upset here for trainer Flint Stites. #3 Quick Entry (9-2) won last out and boasts two wins in three starts already this year for trainer Ronney Brown and merits respect here.
RACE 6
3-2-7-1
In this two-turn event for $5,000 claiming fillies and mares, #3 Big Mamba (4-1) won two starts back in local debut and gets nod to atone for latest outing for trainer Ronney Brown. #2 Lady Macho (9-2) makes seventh start of busy campaign for trainer Mike E. Butts and exits allowance company for this spot. #7 Centerfold Angel (6-5) scored at Parx last out and makes local debut as likely odds-on choice for trainer Anthony Farrior. #1 Gallinella (8-1) was humbled in local debut last out for trainer Dale Capuano but can make amends here at a generous price.
- Maryland Juvenile: A mystery solved, decades laterSaturday’s Maryland Juvenile Stakes should be a fun race, but it’s unlikely to launch the careers of two Classic winners, like the 1982 edition did.
RACE 7
5-3-2-1
In this interesting, one-turn allowance dash for state-bred fillies and mares, #5 Fancy Her Up (5-2) seeks to regain stakes caliber form for owner-trainer John A. Casey and serious sprint distance appears ideal spot. #3 Shutupn’kissme (9-5) returns from successful sophomore campaign for owner-breeder-trainer John McKee and rarely fails to hit the board. #2 Juba’s House (9-2) was good second in seasonal debut in January and can atone for latest effort while giving Casey chance to run one-two in this spot. #1 Windsor’s Play (5-1) was solid second last out winning two starts back and looms a danger if she can overcome often tricky rail draw.
RACE 8
1-2-4-6
In the Saturday night finale, a two-turn event for state-bred $5,000 claiming fillies and mares, #1 Stones Road (4-1) gets favorable rail draw and looks poised for mild upset in competitive affair. #2 Reveirs Minute (5-2) was solid second last out after dull seasonal debut for trainer John McKee and would not be a stunner here. #4 Pettyforurthoughts (2-1) graduated last out against maiden claimers for trainer Elizabeth Meehan and seeks second straight while tackling winners. #6 La Cubana (5-1) needed last out the layoff and could improve here for trainer Victor Espinosa of Noble’s Honey fame.
