RACE 1

2-7-4-5

In the opening race on the belated first card of the season at Charles Town in 2022 following two weather cancellations, #2 Secret Swirl (5-2) makes his career debut for trainer Tim Grams following a series of rapidly improving workouts and gets the nod for a mild upset in this one-turn maiden special weight event for state-breds. #7 Doc Elm (6-5) could be the odds-on choice with favorable outside post for trainer Anthony Farrior and seeks to graduate in seventh lifetime try. #4 In High Gear (5-1) finished second once and third twice at the level last year and looms a threat in this spot. #5 Jokes R Flying (6-1) returns following seven-month layoff for owner-trainer Chris Keller.

RACE 2

1-3-2-7

In this three-turn event for $5,000 claimers to cap the early daily double, #1 Lufty’s Kisses (6-5) ended 2021 with a victory and seeks second straight here for owner-trainer Dewayne Johnson. #3 Paint Music for Me (7-5) finished second in each of his last outings in 2021 and seeks to shed recent bridesmaid role in this spot for trainer Kieron Magee. #2 Owl Run (10-1) posted 1-1-6 slate in busy campaign last year and looks to avoid similar start settling for minor spoils. #6 Creative Mineshaft (6-1) looks to attain first victory since garnering his diploma against maiden claimers here in Sept. 2020 for trainer James Dean Locklear.

RACE 3

8-7-6-5

In this one-turn maiden claiming event for state-bred fillies and mares, #8 Medal Genius (15-1) gets favorable outside draw and looks set to provide the biggest shocker on the card. #7 S S Energy (9-5) exits three outings against maiden special weight foes at Mountaineer Park and looms the favorite in local debut. #6 Stones Road (3-1) has been knocking at the door at the level and could forge mild upset in this spot. #5 Laura’s Grand (7-2) was sixth in career debut against maiden special weight foes and should improve off that effort.

RACE 4

5-7-8-9

In this two-turn event for $5,000 claiming fillies and mares, #5 Big Red Seven (9-2) looks set for mild upset for trainer Anthony Farrior in contentious, wide-open affair. #7 She Figures (5-2) has faced much better over the years and former stakes heroine will look to regain winning ways here for trainer Ronney Brown. #8 Mackenzie’s Star (10-1) ended her 2021 slate on a winning note for trainer Jeff Runco and could attain another surprise score here. #9 Big Mamba (7-2) heads south to warmer climes after spending career in Canada and merits respect here.

RACE 5

1-2-6-4

In this two-turn event for maiden $12,500 claimers, #1 See That Girl (7-2) gets favorable inside draw for trainer Stacey Viands and looks poised to graduate in this spot. #2 Cookie Dunk Dunk (12-1) was second in career debut at Mountaineer Park last month and could forge upset at a generous price here. #6 Planetary (9-5) was second and third in two outings against maiden special weight company and likely inherits favorite’s role in return for trainer Greg Viands. #4 Golden Glow (4-1) makes local debut and exits much tougher company in four previous outings at four different ovals.

RACE 6

3-9-10-11

In this two-turn event for $5,000 claimers, #3 Dinner At Five (3-1) exits tough starter allowance and returns to level of his last win for trainer Ronney Brown. #9 Courageous Grace (4-1) has won each of last two tries over the strip and returns from outing at Laurel Park seeking third straight local score. #10 Waverly Sunset (5-1) makes local debut off several good efforts at Penn National for trainer Cody Beattie and rates a factor despite outside draw. #11 My Way Or Else (7-2) merits respect if she can draw in off the AE list for trainer Jonathan Maldonado.

RACE 7

7-4-2-1

In this one-turn maiden $12,500 claiming event, #7 Bought by Diva (4-1) gets nod to garner his diploma for trainer Stacey Viands and owner Melinda Golden, fittingly, of late Parisian Diva fame. #4 Excuses Excuses (6-1) made four of five attempts last year against maiden special weight company and seeks to graduate while back in for a tag for trainer Crystal Pickett. #2 Moved by Juba (7-5) makes belated exit from maiden special weight company for owner-trainer and former jockey Kristy Petty and could be odds-on in here. #1 Leg Up (9-2) was good third last out at the level and looms a factor here despite rail draw for owner-trainer John A. Casey.

RACE 8

6-7-4-3

In this one-turn allowance dash for three-year-olds, #6 Run to Daylight (7-5) looks to kick off his sophomore similar in similar fashion to his superb freshman year for trainer Jeff Runco and likely state-bred juvenile champion looms the odds-on choice to prevail here. #7 Cairo Calling (3-1) graduated in his 2021 finale and gives Runco solid chance to run one-two here. #4 Big Boy Potts (4-1) owns a win and pair of second-place efforts in three local starts for trainer Claudio Gonzalez and could split the Runco pair. #3 Roll Dem Bones (10-1) also graduated in his 2021 finale for trainer Ollie Figgins III and gets another chance to topple Run to Daylight in this spot.

RACE 9

9-6-4-1

In the Saturday night finale, a one-turn dash for maiden $12,500 claimers, #9 Orbit Mars (9-2) should benefit from outside draw and forge mild upset here for trainer Dale Capuano. #6 Bipartisan Brooke (6-1) makes third attempt against maiden claimers after exiting maiden special weight company for Farrior and looms a serious threat here. #4 Monarch Beach (5-2) gives Farrior outside chance to run one-two in this spot albeit as the likely favorite. #1 Shiny Penny (3-1) has been third twice and fifth once in three outings against maiden special weight company and will get serious backing here despite rail draw.
