RACE NUMBERCONTENDERSCOMMENTS
Race 87-10-6-1Top choice #7 Chronology (8-1) overcame a slow start to win decisively on debut over a sloppy strip. She makes her second career start here and has every right to move forward. The water’s a bit deeper, of course, but there’s no reason she can’t contend with these… #10 Glowing Star (5-2) is the only runner here to own an allowance victory, that having come two back at Penn National. The late-running sort will need some help from the pace and has done her best work around two turns, but she merits consideration on class… No runner here is more formful than #6 Li’lbito’charm (9-2), who’s a head away from arriving on a three-race win streak. Her tactical versatility is another plus… #1 Tiz Gracie (4-1) has been trying her luck against these sorts for a while, with several seconds and thirds on the ledger. That’s enough to make her a user on exotic tickets, but she’s hard to get excited about in the win spot unless the odds float up…
Race 98-10-1-3There’s a ton of early speed in this allowance on the lawn, which pushes us in the direction of a horse who figures to be running late. #8 Fed Policy (8-1) overcame lots of trouble last time to prevail on the main track and has had prior success on the lawn, winning three of nine tries on the green. She should be coming late and ought to have the right setup to spring the upset… In her last try on the turf, #10 Tipsy Chatter (8-1) ran a big one, setting wicked early fractions while pressed by a rival and staying on to the bitter end, when a runner who’d sat off the duel ran on to get the money. Her subsequent tries — in a synthetic stake and on the main track — indicate she’s maintained her form and now gets back to her preferred surface… #1 Madame Rouge (15-1) sat just off the pace and prevailed two back in an effort that suggests she’s really a turfer… Morning line favorite #3 Glamorous Thunder (2-1) figures to be part of the early pace mix — she’s almost always first at the first call — but 47 races into her career, she’s still hunting a first allowance win, which makes short odds a bit tough to stomach…
