“From the Spa” returns to keep you up-to-date on horses bred in the mid-Atlantic racing in Saratoga stakes

Closing day of Saratoga’s 2020 meet is on Monday, September 7th, and features the Grade I Hopeful Stakes and $85,000 Lure Stakes. While the Hopeful is populated by Kentucky and Florida bred runners, the Lure has a 5/2 morning line second choice in Largent who was bred in Virginia and comes out of a recent stakes win at Colonial Downs. Largent has an impressive four wins in six career starts, and has never finished worse than second. With a top jockey in Luis Saez returning, this four year old gelding looks to keep up his strong performances with a win to close out the meet for Midlantic runners.

Largent breaks from the two post for trainer Todd Pletcher and has the red-hot bloodlines of Into Mischief – Life in Seattle, by Unbridled. Being an Into Mischief, Largent sold for $460,000 as a yearling to owners Twins Creek Racing Stables, LLC and Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners. While he has yet to recoup that value with under $200,000 in career earnings, a win here could be a launching point for a long and successful racing career. Bred by Lazy Lane Farms, LLC, Largent will likely look to be aggressive in this mile and one sixteenth route on the turf, using his speed advantage over the field to pick up his first win at the Spa.
