Madaket Stables, Elayne Stables and Brian Martin’s Another Broad headlines a field of six fillies and mares in the $100,000 Obeah Stakes at Delaware Park this Saturday. The mile and an eighth stake is the local prep for the Grade II $750,000 Delaware Handicap slated for July 13th.
Another Broad has four wins and two seconds from ten career starts. In her latest, the daughter of Include finished fourth in the mile-and-an-eighth Grade 3, $150,000 Allaire DuPont Distaff at Pimlico on May 17. Previously, the Maryland-bred won the nine-furlong, $200,000 Top Flight Invitational at Aqueduct on April 13. Her trainer, Todd Pletcher, is the co-record holder, with Hall of Fame trainer Henry Clark, for most career Delaware Handicap victories with four. Pletcher won the filly and mare summer classic with Irving’s Baby in 2001, Fleet Indian in 2006, Unbridled Belle in 2007 and Life At Ten in 2010.
Another Broad is 3-2 on the morning line and will have to contend here with Goodonehoney (2-1). Goodonehoney, a winner twice in six career starts, was the dominant victor in the Weber City Miss Stakes at Laurel in April 2018. Last time out, she again dominated her rivals in the Serena’s Song Stakes at Monmouth Park, winning by four lengths, but was disqualified and placed third for bumping a rival.
Also a Maryland-bred, she is trained by Michael Moore for Kasey K Racing Stable, Michael Day, and Final Turn Racing Stable.
